could the first one be a "gaget" to put screens in screen doors?

I wonder if those 3 brass things are "weights" for braiding are they all alike in size (like they would be a set of something)

Hello all - Johanna and I were talking the other night and one of the things that she says the site needs some sort of business card for members to hand out. She would like to put something up so that you can print them out for yourselves. A contest was born, to design a business card for Leatherworker.net ******************************************************************************** ********** CATEGORIES ARE: Leather tooled - it doesn't have to be business card size - but proportional so that it can be reduced to business card size. (four by six inches if possible) Computer generated (send in whatever format - Johanna will take care of it) Hand drawn (can be mailed or e-mailed) PRIZES (sponsored by leatherworker.net) ARE: Leather tooled - $50.00 Tandy gift card Computer Generated - $25.00 Tandy gift card <------this one will be made available to members that want to print out cards to give to friends or pass out at shows. Hand Drawn - $25.00 Tandy gift card ******************************************************************************** ******************** REQUIRED INFORMATION (this can be put on the card in anyway that is pleasing to you.) Leatherworker.net banner (not needed if you are tooling it - but it should say Leatherworker.net) http://leatherworker.net/forum/ Education. Entertainment, & Fellowship (only needed on cards not made of leather) ******************************************************************************** ********************* Send your entries in before APRIL 1st - 2009 (no, this is not an April Fools joke) Send leather entries to: Johanna Schroer PO Box 130 New Knoxville Ohio 45871 E-Mail other entries to: Johanna admin@leatherworker.net Please mark on the back of your entry your name and address so that we can contact you (We all know how papers can get "lost" from each other) Received entries will be placed on Leatherworkers.net for polling by the members of the site to determine our winners. Winning entrees will be put up later for printing. If you send a leather entry in and you would like to get it back, please send in a SASE with it. Otherwise they will be used as a border in Johanna's office. (that's why the 4 by 6 size >grin<) You may enter more than once, and you may enter in one or more categories

It Ain't Gonna Win No Prizes . . .
Suze replied to HARVEY's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
me too.... although most things around this house "disapear into the Black Hole of Calcutta" or a bag of holding....(I play DnD too) -
no need to "work it out" it's 3.5 mm thick You just have to go shopping with a tape measure.....
-
don't know which do you think would hold up better - I'm about 200 lbs or so......
-
Thanks Ray - I "think" I still have a el- cheapo nylon one around here that the top ripped on - (my big fat self wasn't too good on the cheap nylon) If It is still hanging around I might make a seat for it. Summer camping event and it would be nice to have a small stool to carry around instead of those bag chairs. I take it you punch holes for it before you start - or do you punch as you go? Even IF I never make it I like to have "knowledge" of lots of things thanks suze
-
dumb question time - if you make them out of heavy leather - does the seat fold up with the legs or does it come off and you flold the legs up seperate from the seat? I could use one of these.....
-
It's really cool - but HOW do you breath in that thing? and not go alll clastrophobic?
-
And there it is in a nutshell - people If you have ever tried a craft - no matter how BAD it came out, you at least have some CLUE as the effort that it takes to make something. There are tons of crafts that I tried over the years and decided that they weren't for me. (I really should get rid of some of the "debris" of them)
-
I saw this a lot in the miniture and craft world - I put it down to the attitude that if it comes from the hands of someone you can see it is "homemade" (They don't see "handCRAFTED") Homemade is not "nearly" as good as what you can buy in the stores....(Riiiight) then there is the attitude that "I can get that at "X-Mart" for half of what you are charging - why should I pay YOU more - it's homemade you should charge LESS than the store. BAH I charge what I think is a fair price for my time and talent (in the dollhouse world - materials are almost not worth figuring in) If you don't want to pay it - go to "X-Mart" there are enough others that ARE willing to pay it, I don't need you. The hard part for me though is that I look at so many projects that are at craft shows and say to myself that "you know you CAN make that if you wanted to" (not that I could do half of the things you all do, but turn a piece of leather into a circle pouch......how much skill does THAT take? Cut circle out of leather - cut a few holes around the edge and stick a string in them $20.00 for a 8 inch circle.) I would rather pay the person sitting behind a booth - than X-Mart - or a party plan (I'm thinking of a company that makes baskets)

sweet baby -wht a cutie pie congrats, You do know that the "easy" part is over now..... but she will enrich your lives like nothing else in the world

nothing to add to this thread but when I opened up to "new Posts" I find this thread and right underneath that is USEING A MAUL I almost inhaled a Hershey kiss

try going here http://old.medievalbeads.com/notes.shtml Yes I know it is not a leather site - but Jen has a way to make a medialion that will last through the next world war I've seen then run over by cars with not a bead cracked. You could make the mediallion you want and apply it to your leather "whatever"

That is not a very good rendition of the thing at all ..... We all admit it - I think the girl that did it just took what she could find online and put it together. I would love to redo it but I do not have photoshop skills at all (as in never touched the program) the whole website needs a redo and she has no time to do it. Johanna just locked us into using Norborough.org for a year - web minister is thinking about moving to TN and I thought that it might be a good idea to catch the new site. You going to Pennsic? It will be my first year there.
-
If you are doing that (cool idea BTW) maybe you need TWO pieces of glass. or at least a thin piece of plexieglass for under the table. then if they stick gum under the table (and it will happen, some people are pigs) you can make them buy a new piece...... (see I'm good for "something" )
-
try the people who do "leaded glass" for windows and such. they would have the knowlage of how to cut "semi round" things that I'll bet the big box stores don't have. just a thought. Anyway I'll bet you are going to have to go to a speciality glass shop and I think I would upend the table on a huge piece of paper and draw around it. and take that to the shops, They might have a better idea if they can do it.

I already have someone "watching me" for those little baby pelican wings.......EPP I'm not ready to even THINK about being a Peer (although if someone asked me to be under them - I would accept - the Baroness that is "watching me" I really like and respect. And I HAVE thought about it. My spinning wheel is an Ashford Kiwi and I have thought about putting a chair or something along the back of it (if and when) I find time to USE it - to keep the vermits out of the back.

If you "speak herald" it is Or, a Pavilion Vert within a laural wreath, in Chief Three Compass stars Or Or in "english" think a sheild shape the top third is green with three "Christmas Stars" (the eight ponted ones with four long legs and four short) the bottom two thirds is yellow with a green pavilion tent and a "Cadilac Wreath" around it....... http://www.regalproservices.com/norborough/ Thsi page is our shire homepage (needs updateing badly) The shield on the top is mostly correct - the pavilion should be a bit larger and more centered in the wreath and the wreath sould be a bit "narrower" and not so fat. We went with simple. except for that dratted laural wreath that every shire device has to have. (It's my design BTW)
-
good - they can pick up a million and two sticks out in the yard...... How many kids does it take to find the grass back? (said to mr owl) plus one huge half a tree limb. I need a chainsaw weilding person for about 5 min. Or someone really strong to just drag the thing to the curb. I tried - I can't PS what time tomorrow? ? ?
-
swinging a bit off topic here Just how detailed can they make a stamp like that - I've been thinking that our SCA group could use a stamp with out shield device on it.
-
Cute...... with the three I have you would be taking your life in your hands if you tried to "juggle" them (two weigh almost 20 pounds) I just have to "convince" them that that is MY string - not theirs.......sigh the joy of pets.
-
nobody wanted to eat it - just chase it...... however I have one that would like to eat the wool when I am trying to spin - I'm learning that too. and Kumihimo, and beading, and weaving, and ....and....and.... Yed - I probably have ADD - nobody tested for it when I was a kid. and a hand full of helium. . (ask for a voulenteer. you can tell the "over achevers")
-
well I must have "pushed away" once too often - as they are all now curled up in various chairs

I don't know - the grean part sort of looks like a person floating away and the one yellow sort of looks like someone waving a greeting to them. don't know what I would title it though. welcome home?
