  1. but in the picture they for sure make bar tacks. This is a WWII picture where they put bar tack on helmet chin straps. So seems there was one with a bar tack setup.
  2. I´m not sure but I think this tack has more than 42 stitches. So this is what i "wish" to produce with a bat bar tacker...
  3. I need some quite dense stitched tacks so that why I ask. It´s a certain tack I need not just a technical tack. I will post pictures soon.
  4. Have you tested it already? What kind of tacks makes it? I´m also thinking of buying one ....
  5. The lamp is not important, I may find one in Germany too. This one could be interesting for you as well - just 230Km from Brussels http://www.ebay.de/itm/331038167236 Just to give you another option...
  6. cool - so I´ll send you the leather needles if you want them.
  7. Thats exactly my thought! All these fancy things on new machines cost a lot of money when they are broke! F.I. - I love the belt driven bobbin winders that sit next to the machine. Guess what it cost to replace an built in bobbin winder (not sure if that can happen but you never know). An external winder cost about $15-$20 - if it will break at all. Its the same with modern cars. There is so much electronic junk inside the cars. Light sensors, rain sensors... What a bullshxt!
  8. if you have problems finding leather needles for the 138 I still have about 60 needles in 140 + 160 European size (22 + 23 US size). They are for thicker threads. In case the needles + thread will no go through the needle plate, I solved it with an extra needle plate for straight stitch in which I drilled a slightly larger hole! That worked perfect! I think you will enjoy the 138! I loved it and I´m going to buy the smaller equivalent, the Pfaff 130, very soon for some normal light sewing purposes.
  9. BTW - I would make a small mark above the clamp with a permanent marker or scratch one with a needle. So you know the old position in case something goes wrong.
  10. As far as I know the Singer 7-33 can be timed by just loosening the screws at the needle bar and and set the needle bar at the point where the hook hits the small gap of the needle in the upwards movement of the needle bar. This is a very basic description but this works with my Adler 4 + 104 and as far as I know at the front end they are technically identical with the Singer 7. You probably just have to make just a small downwards adjustment of 1 or 2 millimeters. Maybe you need a few tries to find the best position where the hook catches the thread perfectly. See picture - don´t forget to tighten the screws again
  11. Well, I would sell it but shipping to the US could be expensive. This thing has its weight... I will probably sell all oft he parts but I have to wait what is coming with the other Adlers so I may need some of the parts. I´m juts preparing to sell my Adler 104-2 as well as I´m looking for an cylinder bed machine with walking foot (Adler 69 or 169, Pfaff 335 or a Singer equivalent)
  12. You are welcome! Maybe next time you can help me with something!
  13. Some parts seem to be from an Adler 4/5 as I have found them in the Adler 4/5 Manual and parts list. But the fit the Class 104, 105 and as far as I know the 45K and some clones. Here is the first picture. Furthermore I have 2 original wax / lube pots and a speed reducer which looks as if it has been made by a blacksmith - pretty cool And I´m probably able to get 3 (three) Adler 4 flat bed machines as well Nice work for the winter as they all need some TLC.
  14. Honestly - If I were you I would go for the Pfaff 138. Put a servo motor on it and start practicing. In my opinion it is a really good machine to start with. 80€ is a very good price and you can sell it with profit (I would even pay you 10€ for them small lamp that comes with it - I really mean that, I´m looking for one). If I was in Belgium today I would buy it - 80€ is a bargain and it comes with a lot of accessories you normal have to buy as extras.
  15. ouch - the feet look as if someone welted or soldered them. I think the former owner really messed with the machine. Probably because he had no manual for it. I always wonder where all the original manuals are gone? There are thousands of machines around but where are all the manuals that came with the machines? I always download manuals when I find them. I have about 100 manuals (PDF´s) for machines I have never owned - you never know.
  16. Today was a lucky day - I had an amazing find of accessories + attachments for the Adler 104 /105. Yet I have not identified all of them but I never expected to see these EVER! I will pots pictures tomorrow.
  17. Picture is of my 111G156, its the only Singer I have. I also noticed that part 264527 Tension Disc Slide is not mentioned in the 111G156 parts list. But I think this little parts would solve the problem that your pin is not coming out of the housing. I have no other explanation. I just took a close look at one of the pictures - your machine seem to have 2 washers (or what is it) instead of the Tension Disc Slide.
  18. lets see if I can attach some PDF files 111w155 Parts List.pdf Singer 111G156 Parts List.pdf
  19. I see... Then it is probably the Tension "Dics Release Lever Slide" (what a word) that is worn. It pushes the pin against the Tension Disc assembly when you lift the lever. BTW - I have a parts list for the 111G156 but it has no pictures and I have a parts list for the 111W155 with pictures. If you are interested I can post them here or send them by Email.
  20. I`m not exactly sure but I think I had a similar problem. Maybe this helps. In the tension post of the tension assembly is a small pin that pushes the lever of the tension assembly against the pin that comes out of the housing. And there is also a disc with a small bar in the middle that fits into the gap of the tension post which sits in front of the tension disc plates. I gave bar in the middle of the disc a small punch so that is pushes the small pin in the assembly a bit more towards the lever and that solved my problem. Not sure if I described it good enough. But then you take off the screw and the spring of the assembly you will see the small disc with the bar in the middle.... maybe the pictures help
  21. I don´t know the machines but I think the 195 has triple feed but is a post sewing machine (471 is post machine as well). If I had to choose from the 4 mentioned machines I think I would probably take the 195. But you probably have to make your self a table to convert it to a kind of flat bed. But look at them first, there are to many classes and sub classes but I think the 195 could be an option but again - it is a post sewing machine! For just learning + practicing the 138 + a Servomotor would also be nice and is probably the cheapest option. It finally is up to you. Take some of the fabric with you which you want to sew and find out whats the best machine for your projects.
  22. 1/2" leather - WOW! Seems I have to make some adjustments again ;-)
