  1. I'm sure Cc would agree these seem larger in person. I love it though. I just finished my first real job for it. Lots of practice is needed. I still need more!! Bro. Tim
  2. Hi Cc. Looking good there. I got my white class 4 yesterday and assembled today and stitching. What a sweet tool! I think we both got lucky. Bro Tim
  3. Red cent, I tried to look up the pot on the ZW site but didn't see it. Must not be advertised there but available as parts. What does that run $$ wise?? Bro. Tim P.S. what a gloriously beautiful day we are having here. Warm. Not to hot. Slight breeze with sunshine. Sure is nice. Don't you think so dirt clod?? Being as we're less than 20 miles apart. Beats the heavy rain yesterday!!!
  4. Hey Red Cent, have you posted pics of you machine since you installed the pot? I remember reading a few post over on CAScity but dont remember getting an eyeball on it. I'd like to see it. how is the consumption of the lube? you using a heated pot? Thx, Bro. Tim

  8. springfieldleather.com has them in two sizes
  9. If memory serves correct he was the, or one of the original midas company owners whom is selling off some old stock and a few things he had made again after leaving new zealand and relocating to the UK. Those prices may or may not be reflective of the value of this collection. I've been buying 1's and 2's to add to my collection in the last 6 mo in the $4-$7 range. One thing to remember is each collection i've ever seen includes many common items and a few desirable ones. Not all would be worth $15. Many people forget the value of anything is only what someone is willing to pay for it, not the price that is being asked. Good luck to all parties, Bro Timothy
  10. I'd be happy to but, it's likely to be a few days as I'm still nursing this knee a bit. Bro Tim

  14. USMC0341, The motor is a common variety. More accurately varieties. they are available in many different forms or "frames". you can find them in disposed of dryers and some washers and dishwashers and air conditioning/HVAC blower units. The big thing is the motor RPM and shaft diameter, horsepower isnt really important in this application. 1/4hp up to 1 hp would be fine. look for the common 1/2" dia shaft size with at least 1 1/2" length. You want a 1725 rpm motor instead of a 3250 rpm so it isnt too fast causing burning, at least thats my understanding. rotation direction doesnt matter as you can position the motor as you need it. Another place to find new ones is burden surplus sales online or at farm supply stores like tractor supply, rural king, or johnstone supply. there are many others but thats a few. Got a friend that repairs appliances or air conditioners? give him a ring first. Got a bench grinder? you might check the speed on that but, most are to fast. More questions just hollar! Bro Tim
  15. That is an arbor adapter meant to be used to mount directly to an electric motor. This particular one is for a 1/2" shaft motor. Bro. Tim
  16. Your right Dwight, looks almost too pretty. I can hardly wait to get it dirty, so to speak. It'll have to wait another day at least. Waiting at the Doctors now. When I get her all fired up, pic and info will be posted. I've already made my waxes up to use with it according to the experiences posted on the forum from others. Just got to mount it and zip!!! Good you hear from you brother, Bro. Tim
  17. Longtooth, The maker is a member and supporter of these forums. Look at the supporter banners at the top of the page. Leather burnishes.com. Give them a shout, you will be glad you did. Great folks to work with. Packaged very well too. I can't say enough about my experience so far. Bro Tim.
  18. I'm a tool nut, period. So while recouping from some knee surgery I decided to order a new toy for help with the holsters and sheaths I make. I decided I needed a hand with my burnishing. While I do a good job by hand burnishing, this could only improve things. I contacted our resident burnisher maker and ordered one. I requested a direct motor mount version with multi-sized coves. This is what I got in the mail today: Georgous, well made tool, cant wait to make it into the shop to set it up and use it! Beary did me well!!!! Bro Tim
  19. What is the dia. of the awl blades? I dont have any here to measure now, and i'm very curious of their size. Thanks, Bro Tim
  20. Here's a couple of shots of a sheath I knocked out for a customers 8" Bowie knife yesterday. Hand sewn with waxed linen. Although, these were made before the edges were burnished and it got its topcoat of 50/50 resolene. Hope you like! Bro.Tim
  21. BoBandy, Don't sweat it. If you have tan kote and want to use that, OK. Kinda a run what you brung situation. Sure you could use those other chems or none of them or none at all. Options exist, is it especially "fuzzy"? you could sand it with a sanding block/paper, use beeswax and burnish it in, or a lighter to burn the worst off and do nothing more. I have found in leather working there are few absolutes. Bro Tim
  22. I want to sew by machine but, until I can afford a cobra 4 its all by hand. although the backlog I have makes me think I could really up my throughput and ultimately pay for the machine. Leathersmith Richard Black, of youtube fame amongst others, and I conversed some about this same conversation and he suggested a cobra class 18 or equiv machine unless the interest was getting into heavy tack. In his opinion that flatbed w/3/8-7/16 footlift would do about all anyone would ever need. But if the time arose, it would bring its return investment to be put in a class 4 then. So... for me its only by hand for now. Bro Tim
  23. Can you post a pic of the glue machine? Thx
  24. Love it but you need to find a pin stripper to paint it up too! Then you'd be ready for making all the new biker gear and hot rod stuff! Bro Tim
