  1. Love the wallets...
  2. Thank you, Buttons! I was just looking at your bike saddle bag the other day, and planning how to make something similar for myself. @DavidL - ditto Ellacott.
  3. Wow, that's awesome! The design is really cool, and I love all the different textures and colors. Very cool.
  4. I bet your daughter loved the belt, I'm sure it will wear well and give her many years of use. That's also quite a cool belt buckle.
  5. That's an excellent way to start. The Art of Manliness isn't a bad tutorial, but it might have been a one-off for the website. I think you might find better (or additional) information using the search option on this forum. Look up sheaths and study the ones you like. People have also posted progress pictures, so you can see it step by step. Youtube is another good option. I'm sure there are a bunch of really awesome sheath makers who post how-to videos. If you watch Nigel Armitage's video on saddle stitch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGuiha5S2oE), he goes into detail about needles, thread sizes, etc. He has several videos on the subject. I would recommend .8 mm tiger thread and harness needles (you can get them from tandy, or probably anywhere). I got my tiger thread from Ludlow leather, and it's about the same price as tandy thread, and lasts for a very long time. I don't make sheaths, however. Your best bet is to search the forum, and see what size thread other sheath makers use. Diamond sewing chisels make it easier to get a consistent look. You can use either one.
  6. Very cool, and congrats!
  7. Ha, those are pretty cool. I like the inlay idea. If you dye and burnish the edges, they'll look a bit more finished.
  8. I want it. A horse would be nice too, but I can settle.
  9. Hey Joe, LOL, you're getting so much actual criticism, Joe, because your bag is so good that all of it has to be said. What Frederiek said about the d rings. And I wonder if you should flair outward as the bag goes up, but still stitch the whole rolled part all the way up to the top. Super cool bag, great looking leather, and a lot of cool details.
  10. Ah yes, I see that's done.... http://artifactbags.com/products/403-mapcase-brown Thank you, great idea!
  11. Hey all, I've been scouring the internet, with no luck. Does anyone know where I could find brass strap loops with plates? I'd like to use them like the images I've attached below: Tandy has a nickel one, but I haven't seen anything anywhere else. Maybe I don't know the correct name for it? Maybe there's a different version I don't know about with a different name? http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/department/hardware/handbag-purse-case-hardware/11406-493.aspx
  12. Welcome to the forum! Your projects look pretty good, so far. Good luck with the tooling! This is certainly the place to get some good ideas.
  13. Very nice! Aaand the edges look great. Hey, I actually bought some edge paint yesterday, so I'll get to try it myself later this week. I got it on ebay, because even with shipping it was only marginally more expensive than tandy, and it's just too hard to go to Tandy if you're not going to buy leather.
  14. Yes, if you go to the forum and type in masks, you'll come up with at least three people who made very cool masks on this site. See if they will give you some advice! Buying tools is the hardest part of leatherworking, but don't worry, it gets easier.
  15. Really nice looking!
  16. Very cool. Love the owl design!
  17. It looks great, and I really enjoyed the step by step. Thanks!
  18. Very nice, Eddie. The tooling looks great! Did you burnish the edges?
  19. Very nice! Sure, it needs a little bit of improvement, but it's remarkably good! You bags are getting better and better at an impressive rate.
  20. Wow, they all look very impressive.
  21. LOL, me too, actually. 1 out of 2 of my ends are crooked. So yeah... I'm going to either cave and buy what I need, or make the curve I need in illustrator.
