  1. Warren, I do mainly custom work. What is your son into? I'm sure we could come up with something cool.
  2. I think your wife hit it on the head. I go through that sometimes, and walking away works for me.
  3. I wish i knew the answers to all your questions, but heres the deal. I'm dumb when it comes to thread sizes, i kinda have an idea of how that works but not really. I just buy what i think'll fit my needle. Now the needle size i know cuz it says on the little case they came in, and i use diff size needles depending on the application. This one was a 14 to sew on the skull. Leather is just heavy chap leather, except for the grey, that is some upholstery leather i had froma seat job from way back.
  4. that looks real nice. and ya, i'd say alot of lace! Kevin
  5. Thanks for the kind words. I pull through and tie
  6. those are very nice! What impresses me is all the frikin letters. I hate letters. You've definately got it. I would think lettering would take longer than the artsy ones.
  7. This is one of four that are going to Hawaii. There's a bike shop that wants to sell my stuff retail-this is their logo.
  8. those are real cool. How long does it take you to make a whip like that?
  9. I'm not a huge fan of lacing wallets either, but, I don't know if you noticed that this "lacing" is not your traditional lacing. It does make it very bulky, but that was my intention. This lace was actually inspired by the spiderman movie, you know how his web is all crazy and random looking. By the way Alex, I checked out your website and love your work-very clean.
  10. Ken, I remember thinking when i was lacing this thing "Kens gonna be so mad." I don't think this lace is in any of Al's books.

Okay, I don't normally like to post anything till complete, (I still have to make the strap) but I couldn't wait to show this thing off!
  12. Hey beez, I like the look of your new website alot.
  13. looks good bro. I just started a part-time job on monday at a large shop making furniture and upholstery for restauraunt chains, so i'm feelin the same. I do however have a deal in the works for a bike shop in Hawaii to retail my wallets! We'll see where that takes me.
  14. Thanks all. I think im gonna go with the butt end seam. The reason I am trying to change it is. Even though I get the overlap ends ver tight, when sliding wallet in and out of pocket seems to loosen that joint. This is lambskin and i'm not sure if it can be skived or not. I may try to do one with a topstitch next. Regis, Its probly crooked.
  15. I prefer to make my own just because I have total contol over the design of the wallet
  16. Okay. Went to the local (kinda) 70 miles away leather shop. They have a small workshop inside the store. One of the guys who works in the shop that has been a leather worker for 40 years (whom i respect very much) recommended acetone. I have purchased the acetone, but have not tried yet. Anyone wanna chime in on this idea before i try? He did say to dab and wipe. Not scrub, as scrubbing will just move highlighter around. Zilla, Thanks for the compliment. Stay tuned for pics of completed project. Still have the seats and floor to do after this piece. Kevin
  17. rubbing alcohol, lexol conditioner, deglazer. Clay, Bill, thanks for your response. Has anyone ever heard of or used muratic acid? i don't know if i spelled that right.
  18. Okay, what you are looking at is potentially 15hours work and an entire double shoulder ruined. Heres the deal. When i do my woodgrain, i use highlighter. It really makes the wood come to life. Anyway, the blemishes in these photos is where some of the highlighter has gotten onto the parts where i do not want there to be. Dye is not sticking to the places where there is highligher. I have tried to use straight water to clean off highlighter, but i am wondering if i am making the problem worse. Does any of you have any suggestions on what i can do to remedy this. Deglazer? Some kind of acid? dye solvent? I am at aloss, and thought this would be the place for help. This is the back panel of a model t hotrod. I have done six other panels for this car the scme way and have not had any of these problems. I am, however, an optimst and if worse comes to worse, this leather will make alot of wallets. PLEASE HELP.
