Kevin King replied to Kevin King's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
ah, come on steve. I love to look at your stuff. you should put more up for everyone else to see. This wallet was an experiment in what can i make in a short amount of time.. It's also gonna go on ebay to see what it'll fetch...never no. -

Thanks brutha. As far as the tutorial, i'm not sure i'd know how to do that. But basically its juts glorified tracing. The reason I like to use corel and convert to vector is that I can resize and position very easily. I can even simulate colors and stitching to kinda give myself a preview of what its going to look like. What program are you using? KK -
I'm sorry for posting so much stuff here, but i'm kinda addicted. Anyone else feel the same? So I didn't have alot of time in the shop today, (bout an hour and half) so I whipped up an idea i'd been having for a while. Actualy, I think ETWGrumpy may have made a similar wallet. Not sure, but I liked the finish and the simplicity of the one I saw. So Levi, if that was you, thanks for the inspiration. Bare Bones kinda says it all. No frills, just a bare bones wallet.

Thank you all once again. The brown stuff is the last of some distressed pig. The black overlay is black garment leather. The binding is black garment cow. I think the difference your seeing between the two dudes is just lighting. The art is not mine, it is a reproduction of a paintjob. This is another example of creating line art from a photo. (vector art) I redrew in Corel Draw. The photo on the left is of the original paintjob, and on the right is my rendering to suit my needs. KK -
So...if your gonna havta start over might as well try the soak and stretch idea. Matter of fact, when i make a seat i always soak it and have not ever had a problem with the tooling coming out. KK

Grey Life
Kevin King replied to Kevin King's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
thank you all very much for the compliments! I do hafta keep a couple of secrets on the how to. Hope you all understand. But the description of leathers is: Body is black elephant, the grey stuff is just upholstery leather, the pocket leather is 1 oz black cow, the binding around the edge is black garment weight cowhide. The snap heads are some off the shelf pieces that i alter just a bit. This wallet is another one going to Hawaii. KK -

I would like to offer my services to anyone that can use them. I have a background in graphic design and can convert your image into a usable line drawing. I know there are alot of talented and resourceful folks here that can come up with there own methods of converting images to suit their needs, but I am offering a service to those of you who do not have the tools to do so. Below is an example. This is an unfinished piece, but I think it demonstrates what can be done. I will add some more examples later. Price will vary depending on the complexity of your design. Just drop me a PM and we can discuss the details. I am not trying to get rich, just earn a few more bucks for diapers. Got an idea for a custom design? I can also create something from scratch for you with your ideas. I often provide my customers with a line drawing sample for there approval before I start a project. Below is a sample of a wallet i have recently posted in the "show off" section. I can send you your actual size vectorized image via e-mail in any format you can use: jpg, eps, pdf, corel, ai, etc... If you have any questions or would like to see more examples of my design work please do not hesitate to PM me. Thank you for your consideration. Kevin King
