  1. What is your opinion on whether one is preferable to the other, or even if neither is any good at all.
  2. Good question Mike. Can anyone tell us why it is called a "West End" buckle?
  3. Pardon my ignorance as I know nothing about setting the crystals, but I followed the link to your source of the crystals and saw something there called rose-set crystals which also have a setting tool available for them. Is there a reason you used the 4 prong rather than the rose-set mounting?
  4. Beaverslayer, your three links above seem to be a bit wonky?!
  5. But you still have to pay the shipping to distribute the orders around the NA continent.
  6. Tiger thread is not available in North America. I do have Black and Dark Brown that I sell for $10 per 20 meters, postage free in North America. If you would like to buy some just let me know. Cheers.
  7. 35 years as a printer, pre-press department, aka stripping. Always top quality shops, though each one folded under me as the market dried up! Last shop specialized in wine labels mostly for California. It was all interesting. But I quit, too much BS.
  8. I haven't done airbrushing, but have researched it a bit and the size of the compressor is very important I think. The larger the tank the smoother the flow of air, the little compressors sold for kits apparently produce pulsing air as the pressure changes with each stroke of the piston. So I would go with cyberthrasher's suggestion of using a shop-size compressor.
  9. Could you use a very firm foam rubber to push the die and cutting board apart when the pressure is released?
  10. Very clean work! If you have had dies made, does that mean that you have something like a 3-ton press for punching out the pieces? Your stitching is so clean, do you also have a sewing machine?
  11. I am new to leather work, and don't make seats, but your examples look wonderful to me! Would you tell me which W&C you used. It looks so good that I'd guess their English Bridle. Thanks for sharing your photos and comments.
  12. Why do you think that the back should not look like yours does. Mine looks that way too and I think it is because the front stitch is on the top and so pushes the stitch coming out of the back down. Another factor, I think, is that the flesh-side hole is not on the slant as it is on the grain side. I don't know if this is a correct analysis, but that is what I think so far. Cheers.
  13. I have Julius Koch original waxed 0.8mm Tiger Thread in Black or Dark Brown for sale. I am selling it in 20 meter lengths along with 2 John James 004 Harness Needles for $10, postage free within North America. PM me for more information. Len
  14. Does anyone have information to share about the difference between steel and solid brass rivets? Durability of finishes etc?
  15. That sounds like good advice. Thanks Electrathon.
  16. Thanks JJ. I was mainly thinking of riveting, but not sewing as well, the pieces of a guitar strap and am concerned about the weight of a solid body electric dependent upon two rivets.
  17. I would appreciate views on whether the various rivets sold by Tandy have different strength qualities? ie Steel Double Capped vs Solid Brass Double Capped vs Rapid Rivets. And what is the Tubular Rivet? It doesn't seem to have a rear half to close it to. Any input would be very helpful.
  18. Hello everyone, and particulary other members in the Lower Mainland area. I am looking for others who want to buy leathers from suppliers other than Tandy. If you are interested in sharing shipping costs send me a message.
