  1. Get stainless steel staples or use aluminum blind rivets.
  2. It looks like most of the staining is coming from the base. I would lightly sand the base and the mold to give the finish some tooth then refinish with 3 or more coats. Make sure all areas of the mold and base are sealed, even where they attach to each other.
  3. It's a long swim across the pond...

    3M 77?

3m 77 = epic fail. It stuck great at first, now a few days later if you bend the leather just a little it comes apart. The piece outlined in yellow was done with Barge at the same bench with the freshly glued straps and bag panel. Vapor did it in?!! The piece the cans are sitting on is almost a 3rd of a side and it is doing the same thing :bawling:
  5. It is a 7 yr old post, shhh don't tell anyone.
  6. Set aside the needle for a minute. Cut an angle on the lace and give it a try with no needle.

  14. http://www.leatherstitchers.com/classic.htm - I have never used this one. My experience with the BOSS was not pleasant. It is a very finicky piece of equipment. Tippmann took it back

  16. You will need to wet mold first and let dry. Re-wet the leather and tool while still on the mold. You can add steel wool to white vinegar to make black dye.

  19. There is plenty of room in the threaded portion to hold them. It doesn't take much to remove the punch to empty it. I have since removed the top rubber as it quickly wore out.
  20. After watching Chiefs video on using a Tandy press for punching holes, I thought I might be able to re-purpose a grommet press I have (fleabay $30). I unscrewed the top die and tried on a Tandy mini punch tip, it fits. Game on! I cut 2 pieces off a cutting mat to the size of a scrap piece of brass I had. Removed the spring loaded center piece from the lower die. Set one piece of mat over what was left of the lower die and pressed down on it leaving an imprint of what I needed to cut out. This becomes the holder. I super glued the 3 pieces together with the brass in the middle and set it on the lower die. Voila, an easy hole punch for when many holes are needed. TODO- drill and tap a hole in the brass for a screw & washer to keep the sandwich in place, if needed.
