  1. Why not ask the company that made the saddle? Type in Tex Tan saddles for search
  2. Buy some white leather. You don''t need any dye.
  3. This is a copy of the Singer 153w102. It useses the 135x17 needle in a size 20 to 24. The largest thread is 92. You might be able to use 138 on the top but not in the bobbin. It should sew about 3/8" or less. This manual should help it is the Singer manual but the Seiko as about the same. Copy and paste; parts/singerco.com/IPinst/Manuals/
  4. The finish is black paint, I think. They are 1/4" tube rivets with a round head as in the picture. I don't know what number that would make them.
  5. I have around 5000 of these rivets. I don't have the washer on the back just the rivet. You will need the setting punch also. This is usually a splash application rivet. I think a hardware shop would be able to supply the washer. How many do you need?
  6. See if you can find a used Juki UL -563 they will sew most of what you want of not all. The bobbin is 3 times the size of the 111 it is a walking foot too. Check with upholstery shops that might close or have an extra one sitting around. I think 6 or 700 would be a good price. Sounds as though the 111 was wore out. Good luck.
  7. I had never heard of Stone oil leather until I looked at your link. Tandy stuck the "Stone" on there to intice more buyers. This is just oil tanned leather nothing fancy. You will not like this leather for your intended projects. The oil bleeds onto what ever it is in contact with. I would suggest English Bridle or vegetable tan and you dye it the color you want to. As far as doing anything to keep it fesh. Nothing.
  8. Nothing unusual brass reacts to leather in this way. It is worse with chrome tanned leather. If you have some Resolene treat the spot that the screw sits at and clean the green from the screw before reinstalling.
  9. I hate to bust your bubble but the machine did not destroy your leather projects. You did by putting the project in a faluty setup. Hope ya' get it figured out. I have never heard of sewing whet leather but there are lots of things I have never heard of.
  10. That type of material is exactly what I use to make my belts and riifle slings from only I paid 64 dollars delivered to my door for the one I bought. It was a double shoulder where yours is a single shoulder. It was from American Leather Direct and a very nice piece of leather too. Good luck
  11. What pieces do you need and how many?
  12. www.uscutter.com This is the address for the Silhouette printer and cutter online
  13. I don't know the cost of shipping from New Jersey to your home, but a new 5 or 6 inch round knife from Osborne is 39.95. I think I would leave the two knives where they are but that is up to you. Good luck getting started.
  14. You will be farther ahead by making the cover yourself. Get a piece of sheet metal and a file and have at it. Everyone calls this machine a Landis #1. That is fine I don't really care but when you go looking for information on this machine online you will not find it under that name. The Smithsonian has an operators book on their website but I can't remember the path to get to it. Good luck with your new toy. I have kicked myself many times for parting with mine.
  15. This is not a Landis #1 sewing machine. It is a Landis regular lock stitch wax thread sewing machine. It made tugs for the harness and all other parts for the harness. Pcox is right about the thread going through the needle bushing before going through the eye. It should sew 1 inch + with no problem. The stitch length is regulated by the pricker feet. There are 8 or 10 pricker feet that go to the machine if you can find them. This machine does not like the bonded nylon thread. The Barbour thread works the best I have some black in 6 cord left from the machine I had at one time. Each needle size uses a different size bushing in the needle guide. I made some from brake line tubing. You need a bobbin winder to accurately wind the bobbins. It looks like a ironing board hung from the side of the machine tight where the needle goes through the lower arm. There is also a kerosene heat lamp missing from below the wax tank I have one I don't need. Eli something or other from Illinois is the expert on this machine. Landis Sales 217 543 3464. Good luck finding parts and needles.

    Rjf Leather

Rogers leather is expensive 10.50 sq. foot on some of it. Most of it comes from Thoroughbred Leather he has stuff from Spain also. It is nice leather but I can't stand the price.
  17. Your thread tension is loose in the bottom. You can see it in the stitches coming up to the corner.
  18. Weaver's auction that they hold in June. Lots of machinery and lots of leather. 2 day auction usually the second Wed & Thursday of the month.
  19. In my opinion the 500 to 600 price would seem reasonable the machine was made around 1952. It looks to be in good shape. I saw one setting in a barn a couple of years ago covered with pigeon droppings. No where nice as yours that guy wanted the same price for his. Good luck selling it. As for parts I would call Bob Kovar at Toledo Industrial sewing he has an add on Leatherworkers front page.
  20. Looks like someone is setting limits on your download time and amount?. Just a thought I don't really know what is wrong with your phone. I use a desktop.
  21. I would try the next size needle larger sounds as thought that is the problem.
  22. Don't buy the leather off ebay. I would suggest a piece of single shoulder. What ever thickness you require and color you did not say. You should try American Leather Direct Inc. www.aleatherd.com they have some very good prices on their leather. I buy my 10-12oz. double shoulder veg. tan from them.
  23. Find a trusty ball peen hammer (8oz) and your mallet place the hammer peen end on your hole for the screw. Strike firmly. Install screw.
  24. My two cents. The risk of buying an original Juki TSC 441 are minimal. These things were designed like the Singers of old. They will run almost forever before requiring new parts. A new 441 from Japan cost around 6000 us dollars. It can be slowed down but no one I know sews that slowly. Accessories are available either clone or original. Good luck this is one of the best machines ever built.
