  1. I have a Barnsley plough gauge. Very accurate and very nice tool. I think it is made around 1930 to 40. It has a shoe stamped on the side of the blade.
  2. Your machine is not made to sew with the 207 thread. You should try 138 as the largest size and a #92 will also work. That should work. Good luck.
  3. I would not pay over two hundred for it. A new blade will cost over two hundred or better. My two cents
  4. This is something you don't need to worry about. I am very sure there are no ducks or geese for that matter looking for a specific color of a piece of leather.
  5. 200 would be a good price for the ancient machine. Parts are no longer made needles are almost as plentiful as hens teeth. It would be good conversation piece. Good luck.
  6. Molasses will remove rust too. If you don't mind sticky.
  7. That is accomplished with two long slits of equal length.
  8. Is it absolutely necessary to dye the project?? I would leave it the color of the deer hide. Just my two cents.
  9. You don't need a knife splitter. You need a pull through splitter. I think a 6 inch blade would work just fine for you. It is very hard to control the depth of the cut with a knife that in turn will make your straps look like the ocean because of the variance in thickness. Just my 2 cents.
  10. I am no expert on the 29 but I don't think you will like it's inability to sew heavy projects. This machine will sew only 5/16th inch material possibly 3/8th's. Nothing heavier. It will not sew holsters.
  11. I have never seen this before could anyone identify it please. Thank you. It is listed on Craigslist under harness sewing machine in Cleveland.
  12. http://www.speedpress.com/products/2/46 Try this and see if it is what you need.
  13. You should start looking at 12, 14, 16 or 18 threads per inch screws. These are Imperial threads used by Singer for most of their older iron. They are not odd ball threads just discontinued from use. Good luck keeping it original. Is the back of the frame open or does it cover the drive shaft for the head and needle bar?
  14. This is a very nice machine from the looks of the photo. Buy it in a heart beat for that amount of money. I just paid 250 US dollars for the one I bought. I need parts for the one I bought there are parts available for the older machines. The oil box is original Singer the one on my machine is just like it. You should check with a company in the USofA named www.hendersonsewing.com/manual.asp this will get the parts manual for the machine and any parts that are available for your machine can be purchased from Henderson. Good luck with your new toy they are very nice machines.
  15. There is a solution for not being able to sew with the 207 thread. Take the steel plate off of the bobbin have someone mill .30 from underneath and increase the clearance for the thread above bobbin case. Or grind it out with a hand grinder just polish it when you are finished.
  16. The only one I have been able to find is at this web site. Bootmaker.com/45kmanual.pdf
  17. The 31 is a tailor machine not intended to sew leather.
  18. You need a larger needle with the leather point on it maybe a 140/22.
  19. Why would you specify a certain species of pig for glove leather?? The only way you will ever find it is you have a live Peccary pig in your possession and take it to the butcher shop and then have the hide tanned after it is butchered. Then you would know for sure it is Peccary skin. That's an awful lot of work for a pair of pig skin gloves. I would look for pig skin leather.
  20. This machine is equivalent to the Singer 153w-102 should sew about 3/8ths inch thickness. Only half the thickness of a holster The machine that would do you the most good in your leather work is the KS-420c. It is about the same machine as the Durkopp Adler 370 cylinder arm machine. It will sew 3/4" of material. I would imagine these machines are from China. I hope that was helpful.
  21. Mr. Meco is correct. You need to reset your needle bar and needle height.

    Roller Foot

You can't put a roller foot on a walking foot machine.
  23. Regardless of the Singer I would like to offer you 200.00 for your machine sight unseen. This machine is 74 years old how many times do you suppose it has been worn out??
