I spent the day creating a blog for myself...i couldnt afford a website so i thought this might be the best next thing for now. It was a nice learning curve and fun to create. At least i can now point people to a page when i am asked where people can view my work. My old google page was a bit of a disaster. Any suggestions for improvements would be appreciated. cheers caroline http://leatheroo.blogspot.com/

Airbrushing Questions
leatheroo replied to MADMAX22's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I usually dye using a piece of sheepskin first. I give a really good couple of coats of the lightest color first and then do the darker highlights/shading with the airbrush. -

I found this order a bit tricky....the customer wanted his tattoo transferred to the seat i was making for him....he sent me a photo of his tattoo (his surname) and wanted it in the arc of the seat. I thought it would be simple enough, but i was soooo wrong...it took me ages to get the script curved without looking warped!!!

i love the detail of your carving and the color is great....i noticed that the leather has gone a little bit out of shape where you have carved and stamped....did you have it mounted on a back board while working it? it will help stop the leather from getting out of shape while working it....also a tip from peter main....cut the belt wider than you need and then trim it to the size you want after the carving is finished, this will give you a very nice straight edge. cheers
