  1. I have had several years where I made all my Christmas gifts. Last year was one of those years. This year, I don't have the time to make any.
  2. I have a foot pedal setup on mine for reverse, but I would prefer a locking lever.
  3. Love that big thread. My little consew runs great, and saves me a ton of time. However, I am limited to 138 thread.
  4. My consew 206 will back stitch into the same hole, I have horrible time with it either cutting the previous thread or birdnesting underneath.
  5. I have the too many hobbies problem. I have a new rule. I don't start any new hobbies that don't pay for themselves. Fortunately, my firearm and photography hobby began before my rule was enacted. They get grandfathered in. I like that celtic looking bear. It looks very neat.
  6. I have a really old Consew 206. I was all set to order a 4500 and a I had to spend my sewing machine money on some emergency stuff.
  7. I was thinking when I talked to Neel about this machine, he was saying 5-6 ounce is the lower limit of the machine.
  8. Routers spin very fast, and are much more powerful than a dremel. If the leather was somehow to get tangled in the bit, it wouldn't end well for the user. That being said, you can make a new baseplate for the router, and use setup a similar jig and pretty nice results. I have seen enough things caught in routers to have a healthy respect for their destructive force.
  9. Flat bed is definitely a disadvantage if you plan to sew anything that isn't flat.
  10. I have some weaver master tool punches, and they very high quality. Never going back to inferior quality leather tools.
  11. Makes sense. When I run that thread, it rips and frays eventhough the same machine with the same setup will sew white the same size without issue.
  12. I have a spool of black thread that wont feed through my 206.
  13. Well the RB-5 is made in China, and has a different style forward/reverse lever. The RB-1 is made in Japan. The RB-1 is built like a tank, so I can't imagine the 5 being more HD. Its just the latest model. The 206s are advertised as being able to sew 207 thread, but You have to fuss with the machine a lot to get them to work with thread that large.
  14. I have a Consew 206RB-1. It sews light-medium weight stuff like a dream. It will sew up 138 thread without a hitch. I can not get mine to sew with thread larger than 138 worth a flip though.
  15. I had a Singer 66, that I put a larger motor on. It would only sew very thin leather, and even then, the stitches were too close together. Best to use that machine for sewing cloth, IMO.
  16. I don't like most the card cases, money clips, and wallets I see on the this forum, but that is phenominal. I really need to work on my carving/stamping depth. Yours looks amazing.
  17. I have had problems with that too. I had to start being more patient, which is pretty tough to do.
