  1. I don't know if anyone has mentioned the Orphan Works Act working its way through congress. As you know, there are politicians that favor lawyers ....therefore; things like this are possible. Listen to the video or read partical extract below. Here is short exerpt from the text. QUOTE:" FROM THE ILLUSTRATORS' PARTNERSHIP The Orphan Works Act: Warning to the Public Should the general public care about the Orphan Works Act? Yes, because the effects of this bill will expose any citizen's visual images to infringement, including infringement for commercial purposes or distasteful uses. Most people don't understand current copyright law. But under current law, they don't have to - the law itself protects them from not understanding it. Anything you create is considered your private property. But under this amendment, all citizens would be required to understand that they must now take active steps - not to actually protect their work (because registries won't protect it) – but merely to preserve their right to sue an infringer in federal court (in case they ever find out they've been infringed in the first place). "
  2. manfrommuc, Excellent! Nice clean design and work. Some lucky person will use that for many years.
  3. Tom, What happens when the mask flexes? Does the finish crack? Thanks, Regis

  8. I have a wood dowel that fits the bobbin and just chuck it in the hand drill. Seperate winder would be very good. I imagine the one from Sailrite is pretty pricey but, probably very good quality. I bought their monster wheel and a few other small items and have been very pleased with quality (and grumbled about price). If I was filling a few bobbins per day, I'd get a seperate winder for sure. Regis
  9. Ashley, A lot of folks just wind bobbins with a drill. I do both, sometimes on the sewing machine and sometimes with drill. When you wind on the machine, the tension needs to be snug enough for the thread to track. Even then, sometime it needs a little guiding, on mine, anyway. On my Artisan, the bobbin winds nice and level while sewing but, that's atotallly different machine.
  10. I use 69 through 138 on my consew. If you are using garmet thread, it mabe a probelm but it should go on bobbin ok. I would think the problem would be in sewing. Be sure to use the right size needle for each size thread. That caused me problems when I first started. And leather needles, of course (I believe #16 or #18 for 69 thread). Regis
  11. Ashley, I have a consew looks just like your machine. Wrap the thread twice around the post/bearing on the left side of your top picture. Thread goes just under the top part (which is or should have spring tension holding it down against thread). That will give you more tension and should wrap better. It will still try to be a little un-even but will be snug enough. Regis
  12. Not only is your work outstanding but, the way you put together the photo's & instructions, is jus awesome.... Thank you, Regis
  13. Ray, I thought a dead blow hammer would be great but, I was wrong. I'm not sure why but, for stamping, my cheap tlf poly mallet easily out performs a slightly heavier dead blow hammer. I don't know if it is balance or what but but, the dead blow hammer takes a lot more effort and still just doesn't stamp as well. my 2c Regis
  14. Welcome Mike. And, that is one great treat to lean how to make these. Regis
  15. I've used autocad some years ago (was actually beta tester in late 80's) and if turning & viewing the 3D object would help me or if I were doing the cutting and bending in a cnc machine, then I would use it. I am currently more profecient in Corel and am satisfied with 2D so that is what I use. Also, pulling in scanned or other graphics in Corel or Photoshop is more useful (unless they've added that to recent Autocad). I think the best tool is the one you are most profecient with, manual or automated. Regis
  16. Mike welcome to LW.net . Very nice work you've done there. Looking forward to seeing more.
