  1. Thanks all,,,,,and hee hee heeeee allthe way home......f u n n y
  2. They are cool, for sure. And, adding cuts & texturing plus selective antiquing would really make a spacey leather peice...... I'm thinkin' remember those $$k's leather purses that Johanna posted (link)? These 'could' be out there? Very cool at the least. Regis
  3. The Sailrites are very good I'm sure. There are a couple clones out there and I have the Consew. I'm real happy with it AFTER I bought the Monster wheel from Salirite. Told Ed (esantoro) about it and he bought same for the clone he bought. And, I think he is happy too. I would prefer the Sailrite but, was pinching pennies so I bought a clone. Salirite has GREAT customer service and tech support. Regis
  4. Drill should work fine. Put leather or wood behind the peice while you drill to support and make a smoother hole (back side).
  5. Cindy, Welcome to this forum that is made up of great and helpful people. We all can not replace your loss but, will try to answer many of your questions. There are all skill levels here and NO question is too silly or simple. Glad to have you, Regis
  6. Russell, Very neat and nice!
  7. Shorts, Thanks for the comparison. What size airbrush tip are you using to spray Resolene out to the bottle at 15 lbs? I'll have to give it a try again. Regis
  8. Very very nice work. Did you do any swivel knife carving at all on these? Or 100% pyro then dye/paint? Thanks for sharing.
  9. Thank you Curt (and Anne for the email) . With the temp adjustment, it should do all.
  10. Annied, First, welcome to LW.net. That is an amazing "before & after". Just beautiful work. Do you make the book look original or create your own look or design? Glad to have you join and look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome to leatherworker. Really beautifu work you have done. Thank you for sharing those pictures. You will probably need to ask a little more specific question on lacing.
  12. And to all those that jump right in to share an idea or trick or tip or solution or tool or secret or link or technique or encouragement or ............................. Congradulations and thanks!!! Regis
  13. Does anyone know if a stencil burner is the same thing as a burner for leather? They look like they have a much finer point than typical woodburners. Thanks, Regis
  14. Storm, Looks great overall....you sure got the eyes cut perfectly round and even!
  15. I like your calander method MUCH better. And, that method "might" be true here at the most northern reaches of continental USA. Here in Florida, spring break is when bass move onto spawning beds (and some teenagers do really dumb things).
  16. Kate, Glad all is well but, I'll bet it was frightening for a moment. From hurricane land, Regis
  17. I really have to update this as someone reminded me that I put some guns in my press. If you have a lighter press 5 ton or so(mine is 12 ton) and have thick (over 1") firm rubber on both sides, you can place many guns in your press IF you are carfull. When I do this, I heavily imprint in my press and finish by hand molding. I don't crank down as much as I would on a blue gun. Look the gun over well first as some have thin/fragile rails or unusual front sights that I would not put in press. This is usually just on very cheap guns. I do still reccommend using a blue gun until you get used to your setup. Regis
  18. Congradulations.....glad you caught that dream. Hope you enjoy for many many years to come. Regis
  19. Rusty, Welcome! Glad to have you join us and looking forwad to seeing some of your work. I'm just back from quick trip to Ft. Smith.
  20. Otis, Jordan hit most all your points in one swipe of the pen. But, you will find more detail on each of your points by doing individual searches. As far as rubber in your press, make sure you are using a model (e.g. Blue Gun) and NOT the actual gun. Good luck and enjoy. Regis
  21. Well, I'm fixedup pretty good now for inlays and holster stifener/trim. They are mostly small, less than 1 foot but, will work for me. The croc is 2/3 oz (all black) and the oostrich (black & brown) is mostly 6/7 with some 9/10. There are also 3 pieces of roo (brown) on the 1st pic. Here are some pictures of my $50 (and 3 gallons of gas) buy. I'll probably wish I bought a lot more!!! Croc on left and ostrich on right Ostrich Croc Same lot from other side
  22. Ryan, Welcome. This is a great group of talented and helpful folks who can/will answer most of your questions. Regis
  23. I'm going this afternoon to buy some ostrich & crocodile hides. This person apparently bought a large lot of hides including cow(veg & upholstery) plus ostrich & croc. Having never purchased these before, I was hoping someone would give me some tips on selecting. Or, at least what to look for and not buy. The ostrich are smaller 1 foot pieces and I hope would work good for inlays and overlays. He stressed that the Croc's have tails....whatever importance that is? Appreciate any tips. Regis

I like the way you included detail into the leaves. The layering definately adds a touch ........... well, perhaps a realism as though you made the mask by attaching leaves upon leaves blending & building their color. Nice, Regis
