Sold, and I've met a new friend. Also bought leather and that strap end punch that Andrew wanted. Now, I can get about the task of sorting, grouping, and pricing tools. Thank you John. I'll post list as soon as I can. And thanks to all. Regis

Yes, I have some strap end punches but, I don't want to seperate anything yet until someone buys the Highlead. They will get choice of all that I have if they want. That's the least I can do for someone getting this machine off my 2nd floor shop in my house. Thanks for asking Regis

K-Man I have a wide variety of leather and lots of hand tools, punches, stamps, etc.. Couple very good knives including a Henley. I do have a rivet press. Lots of rivet, buckles, belts and misc parts. I'll work on complete list soon and post. It's all small enough to put in the mail or Fedex. Regi

I can no longer do leather work and must sell all my equipment and supplies. If you live within driving distance of Nashville and need an excellent leather sewing machine at lowest price, here it is. I have done very little since I bought this Highlead GC-0618-1-SC . A few holsters and purses so it is like new. It's complete with table, servo and all normal accessories. $600 picked up will get it. I can not lift or ship it. I have lots of small tools and fair amount of leather and I'll try to put togather a list and post before I go to ebay. Anyone buying the sewing machine can have all the bottles of dyes because I won't ship that. Email or call me at six one five-428-eight55O.

Neat idea. Just need to "stamp" a nice leather handle. I just got a similar one (vertical) in a box lot at a general item auction. Can't expand mine like you can! Regis

Welcome Frida and with a little searching, you will find much here about selecting machines. The first thing to know is that you will need a walking foot needle feed machine. Your first link above appears to be a cylinder arm walking foot machine but, I can't read the description. A good test is to take some of the leather you will be sewing to the store and sew it. Be sure to sew corners and over multi layers just like you will be on your bags. You will probably sew with 92, 138, and/or 207 thread so you want to make sure all of those will work. By the links, you are probably not here in USA so machine numbers may differ some. There are many industrial machines that are not really suitable for leather, so try them yourself. You can look at the dealers here who have leather machines to get details. I don't think there is a dealer here selling Pfaffs but, the 1245 is a good flatbed machine for leather. Best of luck in your search and glad to have you here. Regis

United Way bag

Very clean & neat look. What is the lining (pig, fabric, ....)? I like how you folded the top down 2-3 inches into the interior rather than just barely over. Regis -
Our daughter want's us all to go to Steamboat Springs Colorado next May. I thought it was just a ski resort. She thinks there's more but, has never been there. It's in the Rockys so I know there are trout and it's in the west so I know there is some leather. But, is there stuff for wife & daughter (older than teenager) in the springtime? Is it a good hub to drive & see mountains & wildlife? Are there shops and gallaries open outside of ski season. And, hopefully skiiing is over by May. Appreciate any leads or pointers. Regis

Gary, Welcome. Glad you joined our worldwide growing group. Lots of fine folk here to share ideas, help and fun with. Good looking bag you got there and I liked te way you formed the edge. Regis

Techsew, Those are very interesting videos, even the ones that have nothing to do with my particular machine. Thank you. Now, if someone would just post videos of various sewing tasks ON LEATHER like, sewing gusset in bag (maybe with flatbed machine) or manipulating the leather on decorative stitching, or.......... I'm affraid it will be a long wait before I am profecient enough to make demo video. Regis

I bought this nearly white vegtan about a year ago and am making an IWB to wear with light color clothes & stainless gun. How do I dress the edges on this "almost" white IWB holster . I've always used black or brown edgecoat to seal and then some beeswax, burnishing before, during, and after. Now, I'm only using clear finish (leather balm w/atom wax) and no dye on the holster. And, I don't know what to use to seal the edges good for a nice "clear" burniushed finish. Appreciate any pointers or tips Regis

Just beautiful. What machine control on those curves & points, wow. -
Ed, I've done some gold plating in the past. It is not expensive to try but, you may not like results. Doing small-time or "as you need it" is messy and results are less than perfect. Messy meaning getting your chemicals (cleaning & plating, & perhaps pre-plating) out and up to temp. Also, most chemicals have expirations so, you'll be throwing away some. Biggest problem, I think, in small operation is consistancy. Cost is low but, so is quality. MY 2ct's Regis

Yep, saw the "Back to Top", but, it's not as handy as going back to New Post list. Maybe that feature is no longer available but, this was 1st chance AFTER the real problems to bring it up with explaination. Regis

Nice but, that is not quite the same as what a couple of us asked about. On prior version, if you were reading a long post with many replies, there was a "View New Posts" at the bottom. Just like the one at the top of the forum and they one currently called "View New Content". But, the one at the bottom of actual posts is not there,,,,,or somehow I'm not seeing it. A couple years ago I believe the "view new posts" was like it is now only at the top. Then, you (or someone) added that feature at the bottom of each post also so you don't have to scroll to the top to select "view new posts" again, it was right there. Surely I'm not dreaming ,,,,am I zzzzzz,, zzzzzz,,zzzzzzzzzzzz Everything is looking good and working well on my end (except this one little feature). Speed & function for me with Vista & XP using IE8 is at least as good as before. Really looking forward to those additional exciting things. Hope you and all the support folk are catching up on your sleep and getting to know your family again. Thanks, Regis

Look good. I'm doing a IWB Glock26 next week. I've sewn straps on (small rectangle pattern) and also made them part of the back (crease & fold over). The crease ones fit over pants better and you can get a lower fit. You can use scrap pieces for the sew on ones and they are easier to layout. Regis

Thanks Steve. I knew it is that way on the larger machines but thought torque might be an issue on smaller ones. Thank you, Regis
