I recently received a 50K logrithmic pot which I installed with a 10K resistor. The new pot will give a maximum of around 60 SPM with the knob turned all the way counter clockwise and it is easy to set any maximum speed in between. I have used it for a few days and it may be just a tad slow but the lower speeds are perfect for intricate stitching. It is very easy to set and repeat the exact maximum speed I want and the magnet mod gives me full control on the pedal from just barely moving to up to 60 SPM. I am thinking of installing a second switch with and extra 50K-100K that will kit it into fast mode for belts, etc. I am thrilled with these mods and I think they enhance performance significantly for next to no cost. The poster mentioned hand stitching. I will center the knot and clip the thread as close to the hole as possible then invisibly melt any visibple end and simply start the stitch in the last used hole. I will use the same technique on a machine stitch and hand stitch until I get to an area that I can restart the machine stitching. I use a saddle stitch. Cya! Bob

Minicell is not outrageously expensive. You can buy it here. You can also buy blocks of foam used for flower arranging at hobby shops which may work as well. Cya! Bob

I found some 1/32 self adhesive cork at Hobby Lobby for $4 and it was perfect! Thin enough and also a firm grip on the leather. Thanks! Bob

My initial assumtion was that the item was an I pad cover so a stamp that size, would require a massive press. The cover seems rather amateurish and definitely not commercially mass produced. I suspect that it is either laser cut or pyrography. Cya! Bob

No channel stock, just an L. I do use their aluminum stock for narrow straight edges. I bought some self adhesive 1/32 cork this afternoon to test. Thanks! Bob

I was thinking of this very issue as a pulled out a new side and started cutting. I was thinking +- 20% but 15% is close enough. I weighed the hide and will weigh all the scraps on completion. Wholesaling is not a problem in my market because I am dealing with the manufacturer of the product I am making the cases for. I have limited my color choices to what is available in drum dyed veg tan..more expensive but cheaper when time, consistency and cost of dyes is factored in. I have always been thrilled when my wholesale customers (in other businesses) make lots of money selling my products! Thanks! Bob

THis is NOT insulation foam. It is closed cell Minicell foam. I use it for kayak seats and carving knee braces in sea kayaks. It's very firm, tough and EXPENSIVE. Eaier to form than wood but way more expensive. Cya! Bob

Someone got it! I am going to put some self adhesive cork shelf liner on a shorter rule and see how that works. Another option may be a layer of suede.. I'll get experimenting once I get a large order I'm currently working on out the door. Cya! Bob

I have started using drum dyed veg tan. So no more stained hands, consistent color, even finish, cuts build times in half, a perfect solution for stained hands. Cya! Bob

I have had very little interaction with Ryan but my experience with Bob was exemplary. There was a minor bug with my machine which Bob immediately diagnosed over the phone and had a replacement part on the way that day. Consequently I had absolutely no down time. Again, I would never order a machine like the 3200 via UPS.My experience with UPS as a commercial customer (we do $30K a year or more) is that I would never trust them with heavy packages. If they break it, it not their fault, they blame it on the packaging, Mine arrived on a pallet and it was perfect! It took 15 minutes to break down the pallet and load it into the back of my Honda then 45 minutes to assemble it. Since it had been just partially disassembled, it worked perfectly on the first stitch. Total freight cost from Toledo to Arizona was around $180. Cya! Bob

I am also in the wetsuit business and neoprene is available in .5 mil. That might just do the trick but I'll have to find a source that sells in lees than full sheet quantities. Great suggestion! Cya! Bob

Cork is a bit thick though it's an option. I'll take a look at the anti skid stuff.. Might be too rough and mark the leather. Thanks! Bob

I have tried clamps in the past. The way my cutting table is set up, it not possible. I'd have to mod the table, plus I want to be able to cut at any angle to the table. Thanks! Bob

I have a 60" straight edge that's NOT from Harbor Freight. It's well made and painted yellow. I have just switched over to drum dyed veg tan for production and the grain and flesh sides are pretty smooth. When I make full length cuts I ennevitbly shift the straight edge. This happens on either flesh or grain side. Any suggestions for making the ruler more non slip? It can't be too thick or it would interfere with the cutting. Some kind of self adhesive non slip sounds like the best route. Anyone have any experience or suggestions? Thanks! Bob
