  1. An arbor press would be ideal http://www.harborfreight.com/1-2-half-ton-arbor-press-3551.html Cut some of the handle off the pricking irons or have a hole drilled in the press to take the handle. Also great for stamps. Average cost around $25 with the usual discount coupons. Cya! Bob
  2. Yup same about spelling..that's gelding not gilding which is what they do with the colonial carved eagles around Boston. Cya! Bob (former North Showa resident)
  3. The 3200 comes stock with a table. Maybe you should have gone that route? I prefer to stand at mine which is why I ordered the stand. Cya! Bob
  4. Thanks! That fits in nicely with some new products I am launching. I have been using 6-7 spi but I may try 5 for the next prototype. Cya! Bob
  5. Is there an ideal (both aesthetic and/or mechanical) stitch length for specific sizes of thread. I thought I saw a post about it but I can't find anything in the archives. Thanks! Bob

    Wax/lube Pot

Available from Toledo for $95 Cya! Bob
  7. I bought my cutting top at Hancock Fabrics for around $25 and built the table for it. I also purchased 3 yards of black vinyl and stapled it around the sides with the front a single panel which I flip over when I need to retrieve leather. Works like a champ. I have a 65mm rotary cutter for suede. Great cutting surface! Cya! Bob
  8. I just built a cutting table 60" x 36" out of 2x4s and plywood with the surface at 44" . I made two shelves. The bottom shelf is fixed and the top shelf slides out. The bottom shelf is for storage of rolled pieces and the top for flat. I keep untrimmed leather rolled and then flat once trimmed. Cya! Bob
  9. I got hooked on the leather biz because I needed a new belt and I couldn't find a 1 1/4 off the shelf to fit the buckle I have had for 40 years. You are looking at a VERY expensive belt! I have worn it every day since completed. It works! pants haven't fallen off once! Cya! Bob
  10. Of course Bob sell a "flat table work platform" that attaches to the cylinder machines and converts it to a flat bed. I would definatly consider Bob. An industrial sewing machine makes a pretty big paperweight! Cya! Bob
  11. Thanks for the heads up WL! I use lead scuba weights covered in leather as a weight when I am tooling. Turns out the scuba weights are an alloy which is much harder than pure lead and not a hazard, even with no covering. The most dangerous issue is dust that can be inhaled or any particles that can be ingested. At least in the scuba community, handling lead weights is not regarded as hazardous. In addition, I no longer reload with un-plated lead bullets, healthier for reloading and for shooting as well. Cya! Bob
  12. Amazing! How many hours do you have in this project? thanks! Bob
  13. Harbor Freight has some inexpensive dead blow mallets. +- $6 with discount. I will often use one when my expensive Stohlman is being used by my assistant.. I also have a larger dead blow for other tasks like punched and cutters. Cya! Bob
  14. Well if you ever need any help Stateside, just send me a PM. I used to live in Berks and won many cups at my local clay club, much to the chagrin of the locals. Getting a shotgun cert was a real process. I always walk around, when in the UK, with a 4" assisted opener... I had one confiscate at Heathrow when I forgot to pack it, and BA put it in a box and hand delivered it to me at my home 2 weeks later. Here in AZ you can walk into a shop, buy any hand gun , and then walk out with it in your pocket, no permit required. Here it is state by state. So imagine being able to carry a hand gun in Berks but not in Surrey and then its OK on Ox... Cheers! Bob
  15. There are no offensive weapons displayed on this Website. Knives shown are designed for and solely intended as cutting tools for use by responsible law abiding Bushcrafters, Hunters, Fishermen etc. within the scope of Section 139 Criminal Justice Act 1988 in which it is stated; 'It is an offense to Have with you without Good reason or Lawful authority in a Public place an article, which has a blade or is sharply pointed or a folding pocket knife which has a blade with a cutting edge which exceeds 7.62cm (3 inches) Yikes! So carrying a kitchen knife you just purchased at Marks and Sparks is illegal? A bit different here in Arizona! Nice work BTW. Tough to find Toad in the Hole in Tucson! Good luck selling the Singer, Bob
  16. You need to have the specific model of the gun and barrel length. Cya! Bob
  17. I have a number of these in stock. They are all professionally labeled with glossy paper labels. As someone who manufactures a liquid product, these bottles are professionally labeled and these labels are NOT going to come off . The labels are die cut with rounded corners. The dye is sold in a standard 1 quart "cylinder round" containers obtainable anywhere. So you may have counterfeit product, either decanted from larger sizes or not Feibings. Cya! Bob
  18. Check Out Home Depot or Lowes. An inexpensive method for apply stains and dyes. Use the glass bottles for storage. You can mix the stains with water or denatured Alcohol depending on the product.
  19. You could ask her to purchase a blue gun of the appropriate model: I don't think it's illegal (yet) to own a plastic gun in the UK?! Plan B would be to find a toy revolver that matches her gun and ship it over. Not sue if there are many available in the UK. Update: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Blue-Gangster-Police-Shoulder-Holster-Toy-Revolver-Bond-007-Spy-Gun-P2147-/370988538593?pt=Adult_Fancy_Dress_UK&hash=item5660a3dae1 Cya! Bob
  20. Really interesting stuff WS. I seem to remember reading in a Stohlman or similar book that it was called a camouflage because it would be used to hide the guideline around the edge of a piece. Cya! Bob
  21. As you mentioned in your other thread you don't expect free hamburger. I would take the approach of say that you will make what they require, as long as it's within your range of interests, for time and materials. That way you are making a few bucks, practicing and learning to make commercial products at their expense. I would call that a win - win. Of course if they want free, then tell em you don't do free, but there are some really good , inexpensive leather makers in Beijing... Cya! Bob
  22. All the above is correct.THey are designed to give you protection while you file for a full patent or find a buyer for the design BUT for $300 they allow you to state patent pending followed by your assigned number. This may or may not be a useful marketing ploy. Cya! Bob
