    Hey folks! ive been away for a while but im back , ive been busy with un leather related stuff but i did manage to slip in a little card wallet making for my fiancee, A little history on us if you're interested ... i moved to toronto from ireland in april 2010 , shes from tennessee, she moved to toronto from the US in october 2010 for about 3 months we met in a pub i was hammered ! we fell in love she left in january back to the US we are long distance since which sucks visit each other as much as we can i proposed to her in ireland at christmas 2012 she said ya im moving once again to new york where she works and at the moment im balls deep in immigration paperwork were getting married in april this year And heres the wallet sorry for boring you all with my story haha (im not really)

    the fiebings dye i used was spirit based , i am really confused as what i should be doing and as of how to stob the dye from coming off

    Im making a little card wallet for my girlfriend, and ive oiled it with extra virgin olive oil , and have applied the dye , i used ox blood which is really nice but its very difficult to get a nice even coat . if you guys have any tips on dying to get an even coat speak your mind please BUT ! my main problem after an hour drying i started buffing with some white paper towel and it just keeps coming off , ! there doesnt seem to be any end to it coming off. Am i doing something wrong or do i just have to keep buffing ? Did i leave it long enough to dry ? and what is a good finish to put on a wallet ?

    thanks dave, why would i keep the resoleen for a finish i dont like ? im not quiet with you.... maybe you could explain what you mean ? keep up the good work im at leather work for about 2 months now , its addictive haha

    Hey people . any one know how i get this effect on leather ? what kind of dye is used ? or what technique is used to apply it ?

    i am making wallets at the moment and am pretty new to the game here is my leather finishing technique in order of how i do it , am i missing any steps ? i just dont want to give some one a wallet that will leak dye on to their pants 1. neatsfoot oil 2. leather dye 3. carnauba wax 4. resoleen in that order am i doing it right ? also if i skip the resoleen is it still ok ?

    thanks guys ! and here was me rubbing a wooden burnishing too on it and all i was getting is resistance , i brought it to a buffing wheel and it worked wonders

    as for the purse what is the ideal size leather to use ? i want it to be relatively supple but not flimsy if you know what i mean

    thanks for the advice guys. im gonna give it a go ! im new to the leather working and im just wanting to make new things with the half cow that i have its 2 oz i made a couple of wallets which turned out pretty good , a couple of knife cases from heavier leather , now i want to try a ladies purse of some sort

    Hi people ! just wondering is it ok to layer leather ? EG: i want to try making a purse , i have 2-3 oz leather and i intend bonding two pieces together using contact adhesive to make 5-6ish oz leather will that be ok ? any body ever do that ? or is it just a bad idea ?
