  1. What browser, IE 7? Do you have the "use Java version" ticked if you scroll down that same menu? What does the java tester say? Johanna ps I fixed TH and restored the folders. Don't worry, you can't break anything.
  2. I'm at 16 years sober...whooo-hooo! Jack Daniels introduced me to leather land, among other things. Scared me so bad I quit drinking. Whenever I feel like looking for Mr. Jack, I just hit myself in the head a few times with the mallet. So far it's working. Johanna and I like the flask, too!
  3. Pics from last year's show in Indianapolis are here: http://leatherworker.net/CIL2007/index.htm This is a regional show sponsored by the enthusiasm and dedication of a few established guilds working together and friendly vendors. No vendor expects to make money at these shows, but with some work, he can meet expenses while spreading goodwill. The competition is using IFoLG rules, so entering is good "practice" for the show in the fall. These shows draw a good crowd, especially when classes and demos are offered, and are a great way to meet people interested in the same things you are. You will see long haired biker types and suit-and-ties sitting next to each other excitedly talking tools or how to get the most out of a swivel knife or this cool new way to braid...people really come together over leather. The guilds do a lot of planning to host the show, and you can show your support by donating to the raffle table, even if you can't make it there in person. Hope to see some of you in Indiana this spring! Johanna
  4. Welcome to leatherworker.net's forums! To help you get the most out of your time here, the following may be helpful: Click "My Controls" at the top of the page to fill out your profile info and set your email preferences. Clicking your name of the top left of the board (next to "log out") will show you your profile, and recent topics you have posted to, as well as your friends, latest visitors and comments left by them. Tip: if you have a website, add the link to your profile and/or signature. So that the main board remains family friendly, there is a hidden "adult area" on this site that you must request to see. Some adult area settings were lost during the crash, so if you used to have access there, and don't see it, send me a PM, too, and I'll get it back on for you. There are three sections; tattoo flash art, adult items (whips, paddles, cuffs etc) and I think I have warned everybody- the jokes in the adult humor forum are baaaad. Send me (Johanna) a PM if you want the NSFW area visible while you are logged in. The Marketplace is run by Art, and if you have something to sell, that's a good place to post. It's like an online classifieds for leather people. If you want to run steady advertisements there (more than 20 a year), talk to Art about some additional benefits that can be available to you. Take a look at the posted rules to make your ads more effective. Leatherworker.net is dedicated to education, entertainment and fellowship for leatherworkers. All monies donated to the site are used to pay site expenses. If you see an inappropriate post, use the "report to a moderator" button or PM someone green for help. Please be patient, everyone here is a volunteer. If one poster grates on your nerves, click on his profile, then "ignore" and you will never see content from that member while logged in. This board is full of extra features, so take the time to explore all your options. You can't break anything we can't help you fix. There is more help available by clicking "Help" at the top right side of the page, or using the "Contact" next to it. Post more questions on Suggestions and Feedback. What makes this site so much fun is the participation and contributions from members. We are adding archived content every day, and plan to integrate video technology with this site. (It's easier to watch someone walk a beveler than to try to explain it!) The goal here is to make rich leatherworking content available for the whole world, and learn from each other much like a leather guild. Leatherworker.net is not an International Federation of Leather Guild member, whose members are currently the only recognized guilds whose members are allowed in their annual competitions. If you are interested in finding out more about leather guilds, click here. Another guild to check out is PSLAC, Puget Sound Area Leather Artisans Co-op. PSLAC (peeze-lak) accepts members from all over the world, and publishes interesting monthly newsletters. They have an online archive of leatherworking treasures for their members, and membership with them also earns discounts with some of the popular vendors. For leatherworkers, there are two magazines published of special interest. One is "Shop Talk", for an emphasis on our business, and the other is the Leathercrafters and Saddlers Journal, with a focus on the art part. Tell them you heard about their magazines here! We hope you are enjoying yourself. Get a cup of coffee, kick off your shoes and relax with friends. We do not recommend the doughnuts, but the cookies are fine. (Ever wonder why ClayB's dog has sugar kisses?) Thanks for reading all of this. Johanna

  6. I had a client ask me to build a website with WebEasy. http://rlnphotography.com I hate that software, and would rather code pages from scratch than jump through all the hoops. That is just my humble opinion, and someone else might find it useful and easy to figure out. Johanna *the owner of this site takes care of it now, not me. I shared the link as an example of a website built with that software.
  7. For the love of all things bovine, while touching cows, Beaverslayer, do not let the hat tilt, tip, or >aarrgghhh< fall off. Alex, I don't know why removing the www works, but I took it out of my bookmarks (rightclick, properties then edit) and now the links are acting right. Ben's idea to flush the cache is a good one. Mike, did editing the www help with your situation? Johanna
  8. I don't know why this is, but I'm checking into it. I'm having a different log in problem. When I click on a link from an email the site is automatically logging me in as "admin". Grrr... I'll get back to you, Mike! Johanna
  9. We need to refrain from posting copyrighted material that we don't have permission to use. Thanks guys for your understanding and cooperation. Johanna
  10. Jpgs and bmps are both allowed by the forum, so are pngs, gifs, and a handful of other extensions. I don't know why Photobucket isn't working for you, and I have asked a couple members who use PB to take a look at this thread. With luck, we'll be able to get this resolved. Hang tight- I'm checking. Johanna
  11. I worked for the older incarnation of Tandy, and everything was on a shoestring, but I can't say I've ever had a sweeter job. I never made much money, but I looked forward to opening the store every morning. The Tandy store attracted a variety of interesting friendly customers, I got to travel to events and camps and wherever the customers were, and some days they paid me to play. I would get an idea in my head, sit down and make it, and sell the stuff so everyone that liked it could make one too. The local leather guild met in my store, and they would help me teach anyone who was interested. Customers would call, I'd pick out the hide I would buy if I were them, and I'd ship their stuff knowing they would drop in the next time they were in town for a cup of coffee. If Tandy opened a store near here I would be begging for it, but I probably live too far off the beaten path. How many jobs do you have in your life that you can honestly enjoy every day? Tandy was one for me. Johanna
  12. I live in a small town about an hour north of Dayton. It's flat farmland and well kept neat towns in all directions. My husband and I have a blended family of five kids, and a brand new baby granddaughter. I make hot subs and pizzas part time in our local store, and I have a bunch of websites. I work with several of the local historic associations as a historian, mostly on the Miami-Erie Canal. You can see some of my pictures here. I was born in Cincinnati, but raised in New Hampshire, New York and Pennsylvania. I have also lived on the beach in Charleston, SC and near it in Norfolk, VA. I liked living in Macon, GA very much, and miss it when it's cold outside, like today. If I had my choice, and a guaranteed Internet connection, I would live on a hilltop near Beckley, West Virginia. Or maybe in Maine. Or the Smoky Mountains. Well, I narrowed it down to the Appalachians anyway, I guess. Johanna
  13. Today it was almost 40 degrees and raining, which isn't typical of an Ohio winter at all in Jauary. Here's pics from last winter of my backyard and barn. Looks a lot different in the summertime, huh? This is looking through the fence at my house before we finished the deck. There are two apple trees, two plums and a black walnut tree inside the fence, on the other side, behind the barn, are blackberry bushes, rhubarb, 25 feet of raspberry canes, and my garden. There are flowerbeds all along the walks and house (I live on a corner) and I'm fortunate to have my mom's help keeping everything tidy. She loves to garden and work in the yard, and I love doing whatever she is doing, right next to her. We spend our time pulling weeds and trimming branches, sometimes talking, sometimes not, but it's one of the best parts about living here in Ohio. Her touches are all over my yard, and she babies the Rose of Sharon she planted, and I love putzing around with her. Johanna
  14. Do you still have Front Page (part of MS Office)? Coffeecup is another good WYSIWYG editor. Dreamweaver costs money. Johanna
  15. I never leave anything I care about in the car. I used to work for 7-Eleven on the beach, and there were two thirteen year olds who lived behind the store who could open a car door faster than the locksmith or the police could when someone accidentally locked themselves out. I hope you get your checkbook back, and I hope the karma bus is running down the thieves. Johanna
  16. Fixed. You were right, just a setting. Johanna
  17. Yep! What Denise said! Johanna (add to list: see if "stupidcomputers.com" is available!)
  18. It was JohnD, I think. ~J
  19. Hmmm...the pics aren't set to show for guests on purpose, but I can't remember if it affected smileys or not on the old board. If it didn't, it's probably a setting I am overlooking somewhere. Thanks for the heads up, BM, I will check into it. Johanna
  20. :scared: I can't see any problem with the smileys. What's not working? Johanna
  21. JR, I'm glad you figured out posting pictures, your work is gorgeous. Do you draw your own scroll designs? I like the way the curls flow. The detail is so rich, lovely work. Thanks for sharing. Johanna
  22. I almost closed this thread before I went to bed last night, out of courtesy to all the parties involved. Steven Siegel has built his business on customer service, and I'm glad he came here and contributed to this discussion. I'm not taking sides, but I believe customer issues like this one are best resolved OFF the board, in private, don't you? Thanks everyone for keeping this discussion civil and constructive. Johanna (I'm probably the only person here who knows who Kevin Mitnick is, and I would be tickled to be introduced!)
  23. Hello again, Drac! I set you up to view the Adult Section, but I'm afraid it's kinda emty at the moment. We are going to try to restore the older posts this weekend, but in the meantime, please post some of your pics in there. You may need to log out, then in, to view it. Glad to have you here, watch out for the doughnuts. Johanna
  24. One of the staff members has sent an email to Steven Siegel alerting him of this thread. It's not fair to run down a company in public w/o trying to resolve it on an individual basis first, so let's let SCOUTER notify Siegels of the problem before any more is said, pro or con, about the company's policies. SCOUTER, please post back to this thread when you have had a chance to discuss this order w/ Steven Siegel, and let us know how it worked out! Thanks everybody! Johanna
