Hey Kathy, just one more question... Do mooses like to have their noses picked?

Kathy, the finished moose looks great! I love your use of acrylics. Would asking for a coloring tutorial be asking too much? Have you ever thought about doing a book on figure carving and finishing? I'd be happy to be your first customer.
  4. I always use the little blue cloth. Also, about once a week, I run my little blue cloth under the faucet with warm water, and some dish soap, and wash my glasses with it. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry, and you're ready for another week of cleaning oily fingerprints, etc. I also always remove my glasses when cooking! I hate all the teensy weensy spatters on them! Oh, and Johanna, don't feel bad about bifocals. I wear TRIfocals.
  5. Beautiful work! That lilly is fantastic! You are quite the arteest.
  6. Leather unlimited has never done wrong by me. I've ordered by phone, and have gone there in person, and never had any trouble. I stopped ordering leatherworking supplies over the internet when at all possible. You almost always get better service when you talk to people on the phone, or go to their business.

Kathy, your work is amazing! You are such an inspiration, and I look forward to trying my hand at some figure carving. I have been caring for my terminally ill mother , and haven't found any time for hobbies.
  8. Very nice work, Luke. Just one comment... I really hope those slobber straps are for your wife's horse.
  9. Montana Silversmiths has some really nice conchos. Do a product search for conchos.
  10. You can buy HDPE (heavy duty polyethylene) sheets up to 8 feet long. HDPE won't grab at your blades or dull them the way rubber cutting mats can. Look at HDPE sheets here.
  11. I always figured that oil and water don't like each other, so I've always waited till the leather is dry.
  12. That's good, because my brother-in-law called from Florida yesterday, where he said it was 40 degrees.
  13. Seem they still haven't figured out that ya can't get blood out of a turnip.
  14. Global warming won't be hitting Montana, it will be "hitting" your checkbook, instead!
  15. Please take me off the list. Something came up that I will not be participating this time around.
  16. I'm not a holster maker, so I'm not familiar with the construction methods most used, but why can't you dye before stitching?
  17. Beautiful! What is the decoration on the second sheath?
  18. Cannot find http://machinistches...d=13&item_id=20/ DNS Error - Server cannot be found
  19. I asked Cobra Steve about one of those quite some time ago. Maybe he will know where WE can get one
  20. Hello, and welcome to L.W.! Thumbprint tools, steep bevelers, bargrounders, mulefoot stamps, flower centers, leaf liners, stops. You also will need veiners and cammo tools. These tools come in different sizes, so make sure and get the right size for you specific needs. The least expensive I have found is the stainless steel Sheridan tools from Hidecrafter, but their online catalog does not show any photos of the tools, and your best bet with them is to know ahead of time what you need, and call them on the phone. Here is a link to Hidecrafter Barry King is my choice when it comes to Sheridan tools. He is more expensive, but his website is well laid out, has clear photos and descriptions, and is easy to order from. The quality of his tools is superb. Here is a link to Barry King tools Hope this helps.
  21. Fantastic work as always, Kevin! Long time no see, but glad to see you back.
  22. Maybe you could just look at a pattern, then draw your own? Tandy sells patterns.
