Wow Kathy! That's amazing! You are an inspiration to us all.

mylar film- where can I get the OLD stuff?
Hilly replied to pete's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
Staples office supply has boxes of mylar for drafting. Maybe the stuff you are looking for? I think a lot of office supply places have "art" sections where you can get poster board, illustration board, tracing paper, mylar, etc. -
Try this. or this or this or this or this or maybe this or how 'bout this? Google images has lots more

Look here. You should get some ideas.

Beautiful work as always, Storm! I love the coloring. What did you use? Wish I had more time for working on my projects...
-
Ray, I believe the word you were looking for is TROLL.

Wow, last time I called them, they wouldn't even sell me a concho without a tax#. They wanted me to order through a local tractor supply store. I figured they must not want my business or my money, and I took my business and my money elsewhere.

You could braid some turkshead or gaucho knots out of lace, and use them. I've seen some beautiful slides done this way.

Nice job on all the goodies. Boy, that purple cell case is sure eye catching.

Thanks for the great tutorial, Kathy! You made it look so easy. I've always admired the mule picture you did, and your horses are just fantastic. I'm going to try a little figure carving this weekend. Maybe I'll share a photo if it doesn't turn out looking like a 2yr old did it. Stay tuned, or...... maybe not!

Considering the temperment of a yak, I'm surprised the yak didn't smash the bale rolling across it's enclosure!

Really? You gave them your S.S. number?! REALLY??? REALLY??? OY!
-
Yes Kathy, I would be delighted if you'd show us your figure carving secrets! How about a tutorial to be pinned and a link on the main page?

Awesome job, Kathy! So realistic looking! I've always been chicken to try my hand at figure carving, but I think I may just try it out very soon. May I ask where you got your patterns from? I really love the first 2 that you did...

Simple and clean looking. Very nice!

Hey Roo, it's always nice to see someone try something a little different. Thanks for sharing. And don't listen to people who don't offer constructive criticism.

Welcome to Leatherworker, Pucci! That is one gorgeous tote! Your wife is a very lucky woman to have such a talented husband! Great work. Thanks for sharing!

Are you sure you heard that right? A lot of us smooth the leather through a process called "slicking" before we tool the leather. I'm with the other guys here. I've never heard of doing it after tooling...

Johanna posted a E Book (PDF) on how to make custom western boots. Go HERE .

I've used petite tooling calf for making strings. I only made a couple 4 strand braids, but it worked well enough.

Nice looking knives. Just curious what you paid? I've been thinking of upgrading from the Stohlman knife I currently use. Doesn't hold an edge very long.
