That is something worth checking out, I'll be knockin' the door of HD Sweden first thing on monday asking for their conditioner! Also I have to tap my supplier in the head for some Aussie balm. They shook their head when I asked for it and replied they only carry Tandys stuff, well guess what I find on Tandys site. You're the best! Tom

Hello and welcome from Swedish Tom, Rusisk viking;-) I live not too far from some of the stones with dragon art like the one depicted on your ceremonial helmet. It's a true pleasure to sit here very close to the cradle of the origin of that kind of art and see it pop up far across the sea. After all it's a pretty narrow discipline (taking interest in viking history). This place is the Valhall of leatherworkers but no battles, in other words, very friendly and helpful tone here. The mead is swapped with coffee and donuts. The donuts are bad but coffee is great! Your work is awesome and my mouth watery! Now take your time and browse through the site instead of listening to my ramblings (meaning, I don't have time to write any more. Must go and check out the goodies on your website;-) I think we'll soon get to see the posts that disappeared in the site crash a while ago and then you're gonna have your hands full with a lot of stuff. Best regards! Tom

Tripod-once again, the photographers friend No.1. A bean bag on a stool or even a book the same way would work. There's a little risk of shakes when pressing and realeasing the shutterbutton but a little practice and you get the hang of it. Just as long as you can get fokus on the object you should be fine. Even without flash with my SLR camera I have problems with shiny reflections and gold/silver paints AND I think most photos currently up from me is taken before that plastic sealer is applied because of problems with reflections and that is without flash. To get past those problems I need some smart lighting setup or a camera with higher dynamic range and those are rare. Kate and RDB is on the right track with their homemade lightingboxes: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=219 A would make one aswell if I werent such a techfreak about photo, I just want a proffessional lightbox and small studiolights/flash. In Sweden we have a saying (irony): The gadgets is what makes the photographer! Now before I post any more I wanna now what camera you have. Brand and model. Tom

Thanks Outcast! Very helpful info that I can use to convince my supplier (best and about the only one in Sweden) that there`s more to the leatherworld than Supersheene and acrylic spray finishes! You also reminded me that I forgot to buy Fiebings black and latex on my trip there a couple of days ago, well it got expensive enough as you probably know, he he Thanks a bunch for the nice help and time given to explain. And once again, Maaan that skull is nice, makes me (almost) regret having all my tattoo viking themed. Tom

Nice done Howard! For your first it's all thumbs up! Looking forward to see more from you! Tom -
I agree with Outcast. Colouring and molding look great. A darn fine seat, clowns are not my cup of tea but if I imagine skulls the result is pleasing to the eye. Nice job! Tom

Oh man, have I been waiting for this. Have two Indian seatpans laying around waiting for a go so this was very inspirational to see. Thought they be nice to have my first go on but time is not on my side so I'll have my first go at a harley seat for a friend. Looks really good, nice touch with the red logo on the feathers. Hope we get to see some more from you. It'll be great! Tom

I love it! Very intricate skull design with those demons. The shading is way nice. Is it sealed, antiqued and sealed again?? Tom

Well since you proven to be such a nice gentleman I'll shoot off another round of quickies for ya'! Was just wondering about the thickness of the pulled leather pieces and about Pecards (unavailable in Sweden), if it seals the leather properly (for example, hold black from crocking)? Best regards Tom

A little update to what's going on. Today is material shopping day and hopefully I nail all needed stuff down and I'll try to find a new solution to the finish/sealer problems I'm having. Tired of the plastic spraystuff but the market here is very limited. I'll just have to press my supplier for a solution that have some resistance to water and looks good. Plastic innertubes is on the list and thin foampadding that might be useful to adjust fit at final assembly. Bronze or brass hardware for fittings. Gotta rush, friends are here! A quick link for you flyfishin freaks. A guy I know a bit with some reputuation I think. Mr. Hard Classic fly tying at master level. http://www.hardsclassic.com/ Tom

Thank you very much, I bow my head to thee! Just as I thought with the sides, alot of pulling. You sure are good at this. If I have time I'll pop in to a friend and pick a seat up today. Haven't seen it yet but it's not a regular shaped solo seat and tha'ts why I asked. Probably something this way from what I hear, makes me a little nervous. Also have probs finding a nice finish/top coat here in Sweden. Last but not least I have to turn some rocks to find some good padding to work with but that shouldn't be to hard. First handed I'll have to work with the fishing rod tubes I have scheduled with some really long hours of mexican basket weave lacing, have this laying on the side and do some on and off work with it. Try to get done before May. It's amazing how good you got that worked so smooth around the edges, sculpted is the only word I can find for it. Top notch work, Beeza! Once again, many thanks for your kind help. It will definetly be useful once I get going down that rocky road of making that seat! Tom

Nice plaque! Heraldic art is very nice and seems to be working really fine for leatherwork, like tattoo flash art. The colour is way nice. Tom

One beautiful seat that is and nice matching with the bag too. Nice detail on the feathers! I especially like the way it's shaped, it's so nicely sculpted around the insides. I'm wondering about how the sides are attached behind/under the seat? Any chance of a pic from there aswell? While I'm at it I also like to ask how you create the patterns from wich to cut out the leather? To grease you up for some answer I'd like to say that this one has the same smooth feeling I like to admire over at Xians gallery! Nice job Beeza! Tom

If you have skill, how can you resist taking on this task? Just imagine your new title: RANDY CORNELIUS Americas No.1 Camel saddlemaker How many can there be in US? Cool stuff! Hope you share some pics if you step up to it. Best of luck Tom (a bit jealous and not skilled for such a task)

I'm all in on anything that can relieve me from some aggression in a positive way;-) That Norse temper runs in your veins aswell Jordan, Norwegian I recall seeing in some post before? Or maybe just glue some big leather sheets onto the wall and hammer on patterns in a frenzy, making the mistakes there and get stuff on the bench ok. Beat out some aggression before tooling the precious pieces. Tom

That is an truly beautiful knife box! If I were to dye that I think I'd paint black dye onto the backgrounding, a layer of sealer and then antique it. I think, that is. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw it and I usually go with the first instinct. Whatever the final result is gonna be I know it'll be good, I've seen your stuff before. Great job! Tom

Before the 08 crash there was a thread about leather flooring, this Swiss company seems to take it a bit further by offering flooring aswell as leatherwalls. Can't find any pricing, would be fun to know and probably waaay expensive. For that matter I'd prefer to tool my own wall tiles but that takes too much time. Anyway, heres the link to the company http://krennconsulting.com/design/index.html Tom

Valentines day belt
TomSwede replied to David Genadek's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
That is very nice! Tooling on the lining is supercool. I'm now convinced to tool the lining on the rod tube handles that I'll get going soon. Way to go and what a gift! Tom -
Maybe seal it and antique, like the Motörhead. I see that alot of people here just do things and put in the bin and later on find use for them. Looks very silvery on the pic. Tom

Me neither Mom says I'm cute! Oh it was tattooflash inspired, I just figured when I saw a carving of myself that it was Tomswede inspired, lol. Good work, Caroline and I love trolls. Not evil at all but sure are ugly, Scandinavian forests has some population left. Tom

Yup, that's a carboncopy of me! Looking very good and I'm eagerly awating what will happen to me next. A little helper: My eyes are red. I think it'll look great when done, maybe some cool shadings with that airbrush would be a nice touch. If I was lucky enough to get my hands on one it would be the first thing I would practice for figure carving. Keep those creative juices flowing! Tom

Looks supernice! The zebra stripes sur is a nice touch to it. Tom
