  1. I have another coming similar in design but different color option.
  2. Friend of mine commissioned an apron for himself. I was able to find some really nice denim aprons already made to save me time and my customers money allowing me to just concentrate on the leather aspect of it. Custom made and hand tooled design a few more pictures
  3. My absolute favorite part is the accenting groves you carried over from the gun to the holster. Really ties it all in.
  4. You are very far from me indeed my friend.
  5. Wow. I am in awe. I'm tempted to be a customer myself. Do you have a website?
  6. Keep up the good work and follow what I have always been taught "Perfect practice makes perfect". A suggestion if I may, make your belt slots a little wider because the user will have to fight sliding it on their EDC belt unless of course their EDC belt is a dress belt.
  7. very nice bags. love the attention to detail
  8. very nice work. what did you use for your edging?
  9. Still building on it. I used to work in the garage but moved operations into the house. I repurposed one of my rooms to house my machines and I'm gradually bringing everything else in.
  10. Actually I didn't use a resist. I let leather case and when I punched the letters and the border I made sure to go deep enough. Once it all dried back up I then proceeded to dye it with Fiebings pro dye. My process to do this is actually really simple of course first thing is first, the stamping has to be deep. I actually use a microfiber cloth like the ones you find at the auto parts store to apply the dye. You will need paper towel napkins (throw aways). So I basically hold the microfiber towel to the 4oz bottle of dye and let it soak in (lightly) still this is too much to start applying to leather so.....I dab it against the paper towel quite a bit as to absorb the really wet of the dye into it. Let the microfiber set for like 20-30 seconds then start to apply light coats onto the leather. You will probably need to do this step a few times to completely cover the leather. I always always have a test strip that I equally stamp as deep to make sure I'm not oversaturating the microfiber cloth. The secret is to let the paper napkin absorb the first really wet application and use the residual to dye. hope this helps.
  11. So we got a little puppy and is now starting to chew quite a bit. While my beagle and now new puppy were together she started to chew his old collar and tore it up so I made him a new one. Made of 4-5 oz veg tanned dyed in royal blue Fiebings pro dye. 1/2" letter stamped and stiched with 138 Bonded nylon in gold.
  12. Wow. Great info so far. This is helping and I am using myself as the test dummy too.
  13. Thanks. I thought about that to and may be my only option. I enjoy making a belt for someone when they give me their favorite belt I can measure off. makes life so much easier but producing for the masses involves disclaimers to them on proper sizing. I basically want to start with a standard size and then have available all the sizes so when they are shopping for the right one they can just pick which fits best. It will be a 'in person' sale so they can at least put hand on it.
  14. I have some cool ideas for making belts but most of my demographic for this product involves already having a product to sell as opposed to making to order. I would like to know if there is somewhere I can read up on standard belt dimensions. What lengths of leather do I need to make a 30", 32", 34" and so on. Thanks in advance Maybe I'm over thinking this but I am a waist size 34" and my belts are usually 36". Would it be safe to say that reduce by two or increasing by two inches would get me my other sizes?
  15. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I loosened up as advised and experimented with different needles. While I got some satisfactory results they were not ideal to continuously use. I reverted back my original setup and it's doing great. I decided to go ahead and add another sewing machine that has a great range from #33-#138 thread. I always knew I would need a second machine but I was anticipating to get it so soon. I guess demands change. BTW, I'm getting a Cowboy CB341. have to wait about 4-6 weeks though.
  16. I freaking love it!!!
  17. awesome. I just sent a PM to you toolster.
  18. Thanks for the additional information. on my top post I only went thru one hole. and on the top tensioner I tried that loop 'once' instead of 'twice' and that seemed to help a bit more but I'm beginning to think that the stroke like you said might be too much for thinner leathers.
  19. Thanks. I did notice that going down to a 7x3 19 needle it did help it. I then further loosened the top thread tension and notice it started to get better sewing two pieces that add up to the 7-8 ounce. I'm getting much better consistency now but still need to loosen and am surprised that the nut is almost at the end of the thread. I'm guessing a 7x3 18 might be to small for a 138 thread. I feel as if the 138 is the max for the 19 needle.
  20. I'll get back with you on that so that I use the proper jargon but I believe I am doing it the proper way per instructions.
  21. Thanks. I'm going to work on trying that and will report back. Most of my work will encompass what I'm trying to set this machine up for but I know another machine dedicated to this is in short order. I don't want to have to figure it out every time I need to change.
  22. My issue I need help with: I keep seeing the bottom thread pull to the top. basically flush with the top surface. Equipment specs: CB3200 Thread - 138 & 207 (I explain why the two) Needle 19/120 or 23/160 Leather thickness: I'm needing to use on oil tanned leather that at a minimum is about 7oz. thick. I've tried tightening the bobbin tension to almost the max and have loosened the top to see if the bottom will help pull it down further. The two needle sizes and thread sizes are what I'm having issues with since I'm trying to sew thinner leather. The 277 thread and 25/200 needle which corresponds to the thicker leather my machine can do is no problem. Is what I'm trying to sew just too thin for this machine? I notice on 10-18oz thick it does fine and pulls center within the leather. Thanks in advance
