  1. I have never seen the tree in question, but I would imagine that the fexibility of the bars and a stiff fiber glass ground seat isn´t a successful combination. In the long run I think a wooden saddle tree wins! my two cents / Knut
  2. I have one iron frame Boss for sale with all attachments, but it is located in Sweden. I have had two aluminium Boss machines before I found a cast iron machine, both broke down with normal use so I managed to get new parts for them and sold them. ( Also I found out, the hard way, that Tippmanns "excellent" customer service does not reach beyond the US border, much left to be desired !) Now I have found a used Adler 205-374 in superb condition so my Boss is standing idle and is for sale. / Knut
  3. The rack gear, needle foot and some other parts in a Tippmann Boss ( aluminium version) are made of zink. The aluminium version of the Boss is best suited as a door stop, compared to the cast iron version!
  4. Moose hunting today. Got me a 10-pointer!

That is awesome! I just set up my deer feeders over the weekend, I'm behind the curve but my game cameras are full of great pics, so it should be a good season!

  5. I have an 205-374, and , like you say Trox, it is not possible to sew 20-21 mm thick material in it, as the lift doesn´t allow such thick material. It is not possible !
  6. I would try using #14 copper rivets with / without burrs, peening them inside the bezel. / Knut
  7. Verlanes article was great ! Thank´s ! / Knut
  8. Thank you all. ( I knew I´ve read some topic about it but I couldn´t find it !) / Knut
  9. Hello M ! There is a company in Sweden that sells needles : www.indukta-progenta.se send them a mail and ask if they could ship you needles or else, send me a mail and I´ll buy them for you! / Knut "Trox" here on LW ( Oslo) might also be able to help you !
  10. How do you establish the Full rigging position, at the centerline of the fork ?, at the lowest part of the bar ? , or what? / Knut
  11. Welcome Edvin! Lots of nice people and knowledge here! Välkommen ! / Knut
  12. That I do not know, but it might be worth a try . The surface of nubuck leather is very smooth so I´d suggest a very fine grit sandpaper if you would try? For what it is worth / Knut/
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nubuck : Nubuck (pronounced /ˈnjuːbʌk/) is top-grain cattle rawhide leather that has been sanded or buffed on the grain side, or outside, to give a slight nap of short protein fibers, producing a velvet-like surface. It is resistant to wear, and may be white or coloured.[1] Nubuck is similar to suede. It differs in that suede is created from the inner side of a hide, whereas nubuck is created from the outer side of a hide, giving it more strength and thickness along with a fine grain.[2] It is generally more expensive than suede, and must be coloured or dyed heavily to cover up the sanding and stamping process. Some of the identifying characteristics of nubuck are similar to aniline leather; it is very soft to the touch, it will scratch very easily, and water drops will darken the leather temporarily (it will return to its original color upon drying).[3] The word nubuck probably comes from new + buck(skin).[4]
  14. Trox Thank´s for the info ! That´s what I suspected and needed to know to save some money . / Knut
  15. Will a shuttle from a 441 Juki / clone fit and work in an Adler 205-374 ? I noticed that Weaver sells both the original 205-374 shuttle and a shuttle for their Master Lockstitch sewing machine ( 441 clone), There is a significant difference in price, 390 USD for the Adler shuttle and 196 USD for the 441 clone shuttle. When I had my Adler overlooked by a repairman I was told that the shuttle was worn, so one of these days I´ll order me a new one - and trying to save some $$$$. / Knut
  16. Hey Thor They have the solid core belts, from 3 mm and up. http://www.kilremslagret.se/system/start.asp?HID=51&FID=49&HSID=606 / Knut
  17. Thor, I think your hollow belt is too long if you have problems with the flex. I´m using it on my Adler 105-25 and my Singer 29K without problems , so my advice is to shorten it ( cut out one end of the connector plug with a sharp knife, shorten the belt and reassemble ) The company that sold the hollow belt told me to shorten the belt at least 10% . / Knut
  18. It seems that what you don´ty know doesn´t bother you ! / Knut
  19. I have an Adler 205-374 and I have changed the needle size without changing those shims and the machine has never skipped a stitch so far !? ( Maybe it is because I´ve never been aware of the existance of these shims ?? ) I have seen them in the Weaver catalog but never figured out what they were used for ! / Knut
  20. I have a friend who has a small herd of buffalo here in Sweden and he has plans to slaughter a couple this autumn. He plans to send a couple of hides to the tannery to make veg tan leather. He asked me if buffalo leather will do for a western saddle, and I have no experience of buffalo so he asked me to pass that question to LW-members and US saddlemakers . What do you think? / Knut

  22. I built me a pedestal stand, and made it so the patcher arm is at the same height as my JUki flat bed sewing machine table. I made it from 3/4" pine boards with a 1" birch plywood bottom and top. I also sneaked in an old sewing machine motor that was lying around in a dark corner of my shop. It took me a couple of hours to build and I didn´t spend much money on it - and it works! A pic of a Claes patcher on a pedestal stand: http://www.gatewayshoemachine.com/gateway/ImageGallery.cfm?productid=1 / Knut
  23. The tree is a HYA tree from Bowden. I returned home yesterday from a week on the trail in the Swedish woods, so I have field tested my latest trail saddle built on a Pony Express tree from Timberline saddletrees. I aimed on to keep it as light as possible, no cosmetic leather to carry around ! and it ended at 10 kilos exactly ( ~22 lbs). I managed to find unbound Dog House stirrrups, large enough to make room for my hunting boots - and light weight ! The weather gods smiled at us and the saddle rode well so the week was a success, ( One morning there was a thin layer of ice on a pool of water and the condenced water on my diamond shelter was frosen so it is time for long johns soon! ) / Knut
