  9. You won´t get usable leather even if you try using a razor, it will look terrible! Leave it as is and buy a piece of leather to your stepdaughter!
  10. I built my tooling bench top from 2"x4" solid pine boards, glued together to get a 4" thick top, reinforced with 4 threaded bars all the way through. I bolted on aluminum legs. On top is a 4" thick granite headstone countersunk in an extra top to get an even surface. I think your problem is a too thin table top and granite slab.
  11. I would soak it in water , then let it dry and watch the result. If not Ok I´d use bleech.

  15. To me it is a shortcut, an easy way out of the work that should be done. There is an obvious risk that the back of the cantle binding will come loose, and I would not put my makers stamp and my reputation at risk on a saddle like that! / Knut
  16. Snow report : ONLY 1 foot of snow left on my lawn. Sooner or later it is gone!
  17. Looking forward for a report! / Knut
  18. Here is a pic of my old edgers ( most likely European) The metal parts have different size on each end and can be reversed into the handle. Handles are made of beech wood. Can these be identified as old Blanchard tools? Knut
  19. In the book "The leathercrafters Bible" by John C. Simonds there is a note on speedy awls: "Take the needles out of that awl and put them on a shelf somewhere in case you ever find use for them. Pull the thread off the spool, then step out the back door and throw that awl as far as you can" Why not use two needles ? / Knut
  20. Does anyone have an idea on the value of a Frank Olzer saddle ? It seems to be in very good condition , all original I got it for restoration and the customer wanted a hint of its value. The story goes that the saddle wound up in Europe in the early 1900:s with the Buffalo Bills Cirkus. I got an offer to buy it but I have no idea what it is worth!? / Knut
  21. I have some bright moments once in a while, although not too often!
  22. From a Googled pic it looks to be a jump foot system, not a walking foot. I had a 105-25 and it didn´t have a walking foot / Knut
