  4. I bought an Adler 30-1 patcher today. The serial # is 110259. Is there any website where I can see when the machine was made. . From the condition of the machine it seems like it is never used! There is a hand written note on the manual: sept 29, 1968. Can this be the year of manufacture? (The camera made the green machine grey) / Knut
  5. I just made a note that this style is designed with the buckle inside, as it looks a little silly to wear this style with the buckles outside, like putting on your boots on the wrong foot.

  11. To get consistent stitches it is important that you make a full stroke of the handle in the upper position ( both ways actually). It is on the up movement that your top thread will tighten the stitch and pull the bottom thread up into the leather. Also check that there is no play in the up take lever when the handle is in its upper position. / Knut former Boss wrestler, now happy Adler 205 owner
  12. Finns Claes Olsson eller JULA i Norge? Där kan dom finnas! / Knut
  13. zbean, the copper rivets will be really soft after annealing, like boiled spaghetti, so to be able to attach the burr I have to widen the hole in the burr so it will be only slight resistanse when hammering the burr down.
  14. It could be made of Biothane, synthetic stuff.
  15. Best investment: I found a batch of 53 different H.Gomph hand tools at a bargain price Worst investment: a brand new aluminiumTippmann Boss. / Knut
  16. zbean. I made fancy brass rivets by silver soldering brass rounds to copper rivets. The problems occur when riveting, I had to enlarge the holes in the burrs as the copper rivets were like boiled spaghetti after soldering Matt, load that rucksack with bricks and carry it long enough and your back will take the shape of the frame! My father had one! lol / Knut
  17. Var bor du ? / Knut
  18. Adding an amount of water to the ash will make the hair slip more easy, and probably the color of the rawhide would not turn so gray.

  20. I think you´ll have to upgrade your machinery, as your machine seems to be made for sewing garment leather and fabrics, and does not handle thicker leather very well. my two cents/ Knut
  21. What machine are you using and what leather thickness are you trying to sew?
  22. Scribe a line using your straight edge, then follow the line with your knife. My way to do it.
  23. Trekster, I bought a brand new Boss from the factory years ago, and it sounded and felt like it had a handful of gravel inside, so I´m not surprised ! Had to change the gear rack that was partly broken. The support to customers outside the US is almost non existant !
  24. The neatsfoot oil is produced by boiling cow- and pigs feet, so all neatsfoot oil must be boiled in some way.
