  1. Love the knife and the sheath. They make a perfect combo and the stamping dresses it up nicely.
  2. Nice job Bruce. Browns are always tougher to get consistent results. About classes... A couple of our MN carry forums get together every month or so at my place or another members to have people make their own holsters with help from the folks like use who have made a few. I guess I need to charge for the class now
  3. On some of my holsters like Double Clip, I use 7/8 on the back side and 6/7 on the front.
  4. I use Resolene cut 50/50 with water and dip the whole holster and drip dry. Use a paper towel wet on one tip with Resolene to clean up any drips or bubbles. I put the result in front of a fan for the night and depending on humidity it generally drys perfectly in 12 hours. Cutting it with water keeps it from getting to tacky and thick. Sealing the inside by dipping helps keep the gun dry and no bleeding due to perpetration or rain. That is my two cents.
  5. Very cool and unique holster. Nicely done.
  6. Nice stitching, color and finished holster. The holding power of the holster is usually based on the molding on front and back. All the controls on the back, trigger guard front and back, ejection port and any rails. The shake test works well but the type of holster when on can pull the leather tighter so one that might not pass the shake test off will work perfectly on because the bend of the leather.
  7. Good advise. This is how I started out with. I have about 5 forums that I'm very active on and drives a lot of business. Many forums allow you to put a www link in your signature which helps get your site noticied and free advertising. Hope this helps.
  8. Looks like it should work. Your a brave man cutting the belts slots before assembly. Let us see it when completed.
  9. I did a OWB holster with a light attached and it was a challenge. The light unit was larger than the frame so I end up with an interesting shaped holster but one that worked. On making it, I did a lot of cold wet forming before any gluing or stitching. Take your time.
  10. Great information all. I wanted to find some exotics.
  11. In the end that is all that matters! So good job. Cant is the angle the gun muzzle sits 0 is straight up and down, 15 deg is commonly called FBI cant and yours looks 20+ (which is not good or bad). My origional comment was to help you modify your design to adjust the cant to something else if you choose to or a customer asked for it. Keep up the good work and please post more pictures of your work.
  12. For OWB, I generally use 8 oz For IWB, I generally use 6-7 oz
  13. Nicely done. On the Bersa Thunder you have to watch out for the mag release on the backside so the mag does not pop out. It is more heavily racked/canted than I would like but should work. To make it with less cant all you would need to do is add leather to the back belt loop area above the slot. Dyeing the edges is not something I add after the fact. Any holster I dye gets dipped so the edges get dyed that way. Hope that helps answer your question.
  14. Unless I know the gun model is something people will use I won't buy one without at least an order to cover the cost of the form. I tell people that I will keep their name and let them know if I get a form. This has worked very well. I have also purchased the real thing at times and for a common gun it pays back very quickly. The last one I did that on is the Kel-tec PF9. It has been paid for in less than 3 months and I get the gun to use plus a write-off
  15. I like the black background one. Great BQ holster for sure.
  16. Very cool little holster. I made a pocket holster for a NAA for a customer but not as purdy as that one.
  17. I had my halogen bulb blow on my 3000 and called up Artisan and they helped me while looking at the bulbs at Menards Home Improvement. I found the right one with there help. It is Feit Electric 10 watt 12 volt halogen flood with 35 deg beam spread. It works better than the origional and has lasted longer. So shipping the bulbs in the lights my not be the best solution but the new bulbs are fairly inexpensive so no worry.
  18. Fantastic looking knife sheath! I need to get some shark skin to play with
  19. Repairing screw ups happens once in awhile. Looks good and Resolene should do the trick.
  20. Very good design and execution. From what you said it sounds very comfortable and the Micro-compact 1911 will be every easy to carry.
  21. Looks like the guy has more money in mags and ammo than the gun! Great job on the mag holders.
  22. I know how to solve that one. You make a slight modification and call the new model the Jockstrap IWB for the guys I'm kidding kind of... I have no concern on the back wing getting in the way because it was far enough back so it should be in the bend of the body. It looks like a good design to me.
