Jeesh, whos blowing there own horn now?? Please speak for yourself and dont feel the need to dictate what gives "us" peace of mind. Jim, from what I can read here Steve's got you beat in the Gentlemanly column hands down. Steve, in my opinion your reputation speaks for itself.

Thanks Max, yeah Im really liking the Vinagroon way more than the black dye like I used on the WCC. Rawhide1 sent me some black walnuts Ive got em soaking now, Im gonna try making some dye with em, I'll post when I get something done with it so ya'll can see how it turns out. Id like to find out more about these natural dyeing methods, seems like this leather stuff just keeps opening up new projects. Really want to learn some braiding, Id love to do some grips braided like whip handles. That stuff is just really hard to self teach, would love to find a video that teaches it clearly.

Just wanted to show a couple of seats I finished up over the weekend. The Indian Larry one I vinagrooned and incorporated a Belt buckle, modified it, encased it in leather, wet formed it and laced it to the bottom skin, The WCC is just a spider web design dyed black with the cross oiled and antiqued

JimBob, the front is actually a Burgundy to black fade with black antique, I think it was the fflash that brought the burgundy out so much. But thanks for the nice words, go ahead and give that mexican round braid a try, the first couple were tough but now its not hard at heres a link thats pretty simple to follow http://www.kingsmerecrafts.com/page100.html

Sorry Clay, you'll see that this board is here to help and they do again in again, sometimes it may take a little more than, what was it. A DAY, to get your question responded too. Anyway, you may wanna try Satin Shene -
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to tool a pair of dice? Kinda confused as to how to bevel them.

Was wondering if it is possible to dye, or re-dye, stingray skin, I always seem to be able to get really good prices on large, but not so popular colors, what Id predominantly be doing is dyeing whatever color it is to black, also what about the eye, would I mask it or can I get it back to pearly white in some other way???

Cutting Pattern for tooled seat
rickeyfro replied to Casey Jordan's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Ken, using the 3/8 of an inch works fine for me with 3/4 inch neoprene foam, I cut the foam the same 3/8 oversize and then just shape it with a sander, rounding edges and nose etc. I also undercut the foam with the sander to create a bevel underneath, this seem to help when lacing, after sanding to shape foam is somewhere between the leather size and the pan size, this is something you gotta play with a few times to get the feel. -

Cutting Pattern for tooled seat
rickeyfro replied to Casey Jordan's topic in Motorcycles and Biker Gear
Casey, when I do a solo seat I will make a template of the seat. actual size, then I add 3/8 of an inch all the way around, this is what I do when using 3/4 inch foam
