Took longer than I thought
cradom replied to cradom's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Quick (dumb) question: making the belt to match this. I stamp the weave before I glue it together right? Also, this belt is not for pants belt loops. Should I use some kind of stiffener between the layers (8-9oz each)? Some kind of strapping? Or is this enough? -

Thank you thank you! The other weave isn't much bigger, maybe 1/8 in. I just liked the diamond in the center. Surprised I got the direction to match on the flap -
This is a copy of my dads left handed Bianchi flipped to right hand. The original is plain. 8-9oz leather with pig skin lining. For a Ruger Blackhawk .45. Also found out this leather is too thick for the Pull-the-Dots I got for it. (I have since discovered you can use the backs from line 24 with Pull-the-dots...too late) Probably should have used the larger basket weave stamp but I'm happy with it. Yes that wall is pink When we bought the house it was a nursery. Too lazy to paint so far.

Well, one guy is trying to get this for one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alphabet-Stamp-Imprinting-Machine-32418-00-by-Tandy-Leather-/292035345630?hash=item43fea9bcde:g:b2AAAOSw4CFYrS4H Or is that you?

Wondering why he uses painters tape instead of something stickier. Would be worried it would come apart without glue or stitching.

Working With Austin Double Shoulder Leather
cradom replied to Beachside Art's topic in How Do I Do That?
Don't know what an "Austin" shoulder is, probably some brand name. My belts haven't stretched any that I've noticed. And yeah, I don't buy leather from Tandy anymore. Tools maybe, and hardware, but no leather.- 5 replies

Working With Austin Double Shoulder Leather
cradom replied to Beachside Art's topic in How Do I Do That?
Springfield sells a double shoulder in 8-9oz with a straight side for $40. I've been using it for belts and a holster. Just bought another one. Going to make 2 collars for my dogs soon. http://springfieldleather.com/Straight-Edge-Import-Double-Shoulder- 5 replies

I have a 60mm Fiskars I got at Walmart. I love it. Haven't had to change blade yet either. I think 60 is better for thicker leather.

Nice, clean lines. -
Photobucket or Imgur, both work great. http://imgur.com/

Hello Beaumont, I'm in Groves. There used to be a Tandy in Beaumont on Calder, now the closest one is in Deer Park. If you need help with anything just holler.

Classic Western Holster
cradom replied to LumpenDoodle2's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Looks like a K156R, which is not a Tandy stamp. I got mine at Hobby Lobby. They're a matched left/right set. Kind of a scroll pattern. -
Possibly some kind of home made stamp?

My latest belt
cradom replied to cradom's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Thank you!! Typical conversation at my house: wife: that's pretty me: meh, looks like crap I tend to be very critical of my work, whatever it is. Leatherwork, carpentry, whatever. She gets so frustrated... -
That's two layers of leather. The top layer is cut out (like a window) for the beads. It is slightly smaller than the beads to hold them in, although they are glued too.

I don't recommend it, unless you have one you don't want anymore. No matter how much you try to center it, it will vibrate/chatter. Unless you're talking about the white plastic circle one like from Tandy? That should work.

Oddly enough I just bought one, with a coupon - $50something from Harbor Freight. Now just waiting on the drum sander and skirt chaser from ProBurnisher to come in.(the drum and burnisher actually cost more than the drill press)

Thanks. Oddly enough it's a Tandy. Got it last time there was a sale. Used the heavy maul on it. -

My latest belt

A good pair of glasses I probably should have scribed a line first, it does wander a bit. -
Got a tri-weave tool and tried it out. Outside is 8-9oz, lined with 5-6oz. First lined one I've done. Fiebings pro oil black outside/natural inside. Thick enough for a light gunbelt. The thread is supposed to be white. Looks more like bone or ivory to me. Buckle from Tandy. Cant take pics worth a dang, sorry.

Wow! Are these just leather or are they leather covered boxes?

My first triweave belt bag
cradom replied to stormdevil's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Looks good! Just finished a belt with tri-weave, just got the tool. Not as easy as it looks to keep a straight line -
The pic of Popeye showed up on Pinterest this morning. Posted by Devin Southam Leatherwork. That anyone here?
