Browning Buckmark Holster
stu925 replied to stu925's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thank you, I've been working at my edges trying to keep up with yours, LOL. Thank you, the ultimate test will be how it fits his gun with the red dot. I should be hearing from him about in another day or 2. -
Browning Buckmark Holster
stu925 replied to stu925's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
The color is a custom mix of Dark Brown, Saddle Tan and Ox Blood all Fiebing's dyes. We went back and forth for 3 weeks trying to come up with a color he liked as a match for the Cocbolo grips on his gun. I got pretty frustrated and after awhile every shade started to look the same but it was worth it. He's happy and I think the color is perfect even if I could never recreate it. Truly a one of a kind piece -Stu. -

Thanks for the kind words. I can tell you it was time consuming. Stu -
Browning Buckmark Holster

Thank you all. Dwight, I did a knife sheath like that right before this too. I'm looking forward to my next non-welted project. What I've been doing is laying out the stitch lines with the chisels and then finishing them with an awl. I've been is driving the awl through with a mallet, that allows me to make sure it's going straight through. Next one I may try chucking the awl blade up in my drill press and use that without turning it on. Stu -
Here's my latest work. This was an order from a guy with a Buckmark with a Red Dot mounted on it. The color is a custom mix to approximate the Cocobolo grips on his gun (dark brown, saddle tan and ox blood). Looks great but I doubt I could reproduce it exactly. Anyway here's some pictures of the completed project.

Local antiques shop here has a couple cobblers' hammers in it. I think they're fairly common and would be perfect for what you're doing. Check ebay too, I'm sure someone has a couple they're selling, just don't pay a ton for it. Stu

Dad's Genuine Norlund Camp Axe Sheath
stu925 replied to Vikefan's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Love that design for almost any single bit. I did one just like it for an old Germantown carpenter's axe. Very creative making the axe head from clay, good thinking. Stu -
Beautiful piece of wood. The knife looks great, nice work. Stu

Shield 'n' stuff

Great work as usual especially the avenger. That ought to be just about the perfect holster for those little Sigs. Stu -
Tell me about your "Hot Box"
stu925 replied to Dwight's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
That looks awesome. Much more ambitious than anything I'll be building I think, although I would love to have one like it. -
Beautiful. If I wasn't such a hack at carving I'd buy one from you. Great job on these. Stu

Tell me about your "Hot Box"
stu925 replied to Dwight's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Ok now I have to build one of these when I move my office/leather work are to a bigger room. This should be a big help. Stu -
Great work Dwight. I may have missed it already but I'd be very interested in how you built your hot box and some pictures if you have the time to do it. Stu Edited to add: Never mind on the hot box I found the thread that it's in nice work Dwight.

Simple knife sheath

Looks great, I'd like to see the knife too. Nice work. Stu -
I wish. Basically it's a chunk of counter top that they didn't use. Oh well he's about the only game in town unfortunately.

Which Revolver molds?
stu925 replied to Boriqua's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Holsters for any of the standard S&W frame sizes should sell well, particularly the J &K sizes. There are plenty of S&W aficionados out there that appreciate good leather. Once you get a few built you might consider posting pictures over on the S&W forums. There's a lot of crossover between the S&W Line and Taurus line so Taurus revolvers should fit in S&W holsters like they were made for them. Personally I'd start with J & K frame blue guns and then move up to L & N once I got a few holsters sold. I suspect there's a lot more J & K frame guns than L & N but that's purely speculation. Stu -
Your timing is perfect since Tandy just announced their guide. It's too bad you're not interested in making more, you could probably out sell them 2 to 1. Yours is a much better design. Stu

Looks good, pretty clever too. Stu

Go over to one of the firearms forums and put a wanted to buy request out there for whatever you're looking for. Try the firing line someone there will have what you need I'm sure. Stu

Para Military Belt Cavalry Holster
stu925 replied to Forester's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Looks great, I love that style of holster. I've considered making one but have no idea when it would get used. Stu -
Local stone cutter here gouged me $50 for a 13"x19"x 1.25" piece of granite so if you got a piece that big for free you got a hell of a deal. The bench looks great, the inset granite is a great idea, I may have to consider that when I build my next bench. Stu

The "Three Amigos" scabbards
stu925 replied to CowboyCurry's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I can not begin to imagine how many hours goes into something like that. They look great, there's something to be said about plain leather. Keep up the good work. Stu -
