Greetings all. I have recently had this concho made up for all of us deputies. It seems that there are a lot of products out there for police and firemen, but very few specifically for Sheriff's Officers. This concho is 1 1/4" diameter and I can have them made in 1 1/2" if there is sufficient interest. The concho looks better than the picture; I was in a hurry to get these posted. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

Help! Looking for these conchos. I believe I used to get them from Argent Express but can no longer find them. They are somewhat thin antiqued nickel silver. The sizes I need are 1", 1 1/4", and 1 1/2" with Chicago screw backs, very well made. NOT MADE IN CHINA! I believe they come from New Mexico. Please let me know where I can get these. Thanks.

Greetings everyone. I am looking for a source for these conchos. They are relatively thin, stamped antique nickel silver, most likely from New Mexico. The ones I need are 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" with screw backs, different patterns. I used to get them from Argent Express but I just can't find a supplier for them now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and, keep carvin"!

Dang, its been a long time since I've been on here! Too busy. Is that good or bad? First off: MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE!!! Now for the business part. I'm looking for a supplier of some stamped conchos. These are nickle silver, thin, southwestern designs. I used to get them from Argent Express but I can't seem to find them any longer. Please let me know if you know of a source for these. THANKS.

I have one very similar I bought several years ago at the show in Sheridan. Works great and holds a good edge. Are the ripples along the cutting edge a reflection or does the cutting edge look like that?! If the ripples are in the cutting edge, your knife needs a LOT of attention. Keep it away from power tools and get someone that can hand sharpen it to try to correct the edge.

Question On Making A Holster
HarryB replied to russell's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Form your holster first then glue your liner in otherwise you will end up with wrinkles you can't get out. -
Ah, looks like one of those "light dustings" we got when I lived in Gunnison Colorado.

Can't find this Clip
HarryB replied to DCKNIVES's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
That looks like a clip from a DeSantis brand holster. I doubt that you will find "a" clip like it. Better luck ordering a few thousand, unfortunately. -
Just a couple of more tips. I have sewn on different brands and models of machines for many years and have found that, if the machine was working fine one minute and not the next, 99 times out of 100 it is operator error! I have sewn along fine, changed thread or bobbin and everything went to heck in a hankie (it is Christmas time after all!) worked for several minutes on the machine, walked away and came back to look at it again. In my haste I have almost always missed a step in rethreading the upper thread or put the bobbin in up side down or something else very simple. After sewing on a machine for a while you will be able to tell after a very few stitches if something doesn't look, sound or feel right. Take your time and don't get frustrated.

Hey. Being and old leftie, I have used the wooden strap cutter for years successfully except when I wanted to strip very heavy leathers. As I have grown older, I have forced myself to learn to use tools made for the "other" people. I now use a standard draw gauge right handed and, with a little practice I now have no problems using it. At one time I looked at getting some handles cast with the offset made for lefties but it was going to be an expensive undertaking. Just practice with a draw gauge and you will get the hang of it. One secret: KEEP THE BLADE RAZOR SHARP. It makes it a lot easier. Good luck.

I've used the spring snaps pictured for years on both horse and dog equipment. I've never had an animal break one of the snaps. The snaps have broken due to springs popping out or the movable part of the latch breaking but never had one straightened out by an animal. I have seen the scissor snaps break. I had a half wolf/half Malimute that could break a scissor snap easily. I really don't think the casting hole in the base of the brass snap will affect the overall strength that much. You are making leashes for dogs: not dinosaurs. As long as the animal is not tied fast to a fence post or light post you will probably be OK.

This piece of leather wont carve to save my life!
HarryB replied to anester05's topic in How Do I Do That?
Don't waste your time fighting a bad piece of leather!!! Use it for fillers or coasters. Start with a good piece of leather and finish with a good product. -
I'll have to check when I get to the shop Monday, but I believe I have that in my "stash". I'll let you know.

Thanks for the posting. I was in Sheridan when Al was awarded the Al Stohlman Award. It was quite comical: Al said "well, it's about time!".

As old as my tougue and a little older than my teeth (JUST 58!) (How come more men are responding to this than women? Just wondering!)

Did the whole belt crack or just where you were folding it for the buckle?

Weaver Leather carries the screw posts with a flower design. I certainly hope you haaven't been popping the heads off those! I think this is what you are looking for.

Greetings. What you are looking for appears to be the "lift the dot" snaps made by Scovil (sp). I have seen these "lift the dot" snaps with the long post but I don't have any in stock right now. I had a very bad ordering experience with Skovil a year or so ago but they have outstanding products. Hope this helps.
