  1. These were made with Hermann Oak's craftsman grade. They are dyed with Fiebing's Pro Oil dyes. I have some B grade being delivered today. I wish I used enough leather or new others to go in with to order direct from Hermann Oak and try some of their A grade. But for now the B grade will have to do.
  2. I started with the standard Tandy bevelers and now use the Pro line. They are different in many ways. The Pro line, while much better, does not do so good in very tight inside edges. I might have to get some of those corner ones at Barrys linked above. That is unless you are referring to Tandy's Pro line vs ones like Barry's sells. Then yeah it looks like the handle that is the main difference. Standard Tandy's Pro line The ones at Barry's from the link earlier
  3. I never noticed the Regional Box pricing before DOH! Looks like I need to order up some of those boxes as well. Thank you.
  4. Before continuing with the side discussion, count me in for at least 3 blue guns if you do go thru with the initial ordering. I am seeing that your price is from the Regional Rate Box A pricing. I do not have a business account at this time. Looks like I should see if the cost to get one would be worth it for me considering I will probably only ship a few holsters per month. This is just a hobby/side type of thing for me.
  5. What I am about to post is not to try to argue about pricing. I am all about saving money and agree with much of your way of thinking on the what have they done to earn that extra money. Anyways, I just went to Knifekits website that sells blue guns for $41.95 and wanted to compare their shipped price to that of your example from earlier. So for 2 guns from them I would pay $95.33 shipped via FedEx and $98.90 shipped via USPS priority. So at minimum of $9.33 more thru them. Yeah I would choose from you in that case. Then I started to think about the $1 increase per gun and decided to do the calculate price thingy on USPS website. I picked a random 5 numbers and came up with shipping from my 85201 zip to 32105 which apparently is a place called Barberville Fl. I put in a package weight of 1lbs and looked up standard priority shipping. It was $8.35 with the include $50 insurance coverage. The standard retail shipping, the one that you have to go in for, showed up as $8.15. I then changed the weight to 2lbs. The priority price jumped up to $12.75. I then weighed my Rings Blue Gun Colt Commander and it weighs 32.85oz. So it is 2lbs by itself. Thank goodness this gun can fit in the small flat rate box but there would not be any room left for another gun. For multiple guns it looks like it would be more practical to move up to the next size flat rate box. Then stuffing say 5 guns in that medium box would get you your moneys worth for shipping. Also the insurance only covers up to $50 so if you were sending 5 guns @ $195 and the package got lost you would be out $145. That is if extra insurance was wanted of course. Are you basing your prices on a business account or something? I am sincerely asking since I just started to sell and would like to pay the cheapest rates possible.
  6. Works good for me. I have used 5/6oz + 3/4oz or 6/7oz + 2/3oz to achieve the same results. Basically giving me an 8 to 10 oz possibility.
  7. Priority mail is my preference for shipping goods. The included insurance is only for $50 though. After that it adds $2 something and up. But yeah I do like that they deliver fast and 6 days a week. Well even on Sundays in certain cities if they are also delivering in the area for Amazon. I noticed FedEx is about $2 cheaper than the flat rate for medium boxes. I can get boxes for $0.50. So it would be a savings but again I do really like the speed of USPS and the delivery schedule over that of the other guys. Good to know that there are others that like them too.
  8. Thank you. Edges are somethng I value in finished leather goods. So I put the effort in to try to make mine to be something I would want if I was buying it in a finished state. They have not all been winners though.
  9. Knifekits.com aka holstersmith.com. They have them in several lengths and they sell them in black zinc and black oxide. They also have rubber washers that work great if you need spacers.
  10. I just started to make holsters to sell. I actually just shipped my first one today. I am curious what you all have found to be tried and true safe methods for packing your leather goods? Also what carriers do you choose to use and why?
  11. some older holsters Officer IWB with Shark Officer 30* hidden belt slot pancake in Cape Buffalo on the left and Sig P938 30* snap on with Elephant Sig P938 hidden belt slot pancake full Shark Three of my first 5 holsters.
  12. In Washington that is true but there are many states where it is not. Here in AZ we do NOT need an FFL to transfer a gun between private citizens.
  13. Here are a few pics that show my edges. And some to show that the backs are not ignored.
  14. Frist up is a 1911 commander pancake holster with matching mag pouch. The color is dark chocolate brown but looks black in the pics. The accent is done in Cape Buffalo. This is another 1911 commander pancake but in black with Shark accent. This is one I am currently building. This was right after molding. I still have to dye it and finish the edges but I like that the detail can really be seen in the pic so I thought I would share it now. It is an officer size 1911 pancake. I know I have posted this one before but hey I like it a lot.
  15. I wanted to share a few recent holsters I have built. So here I go to start yet another thread showing my work. Only this will be the last new thread I will start for showing my holsters. Instead I will just continue to add them here to this thread. Some holsters are or will be my personal holsters and some will be ones that I have built to sell. I welcome comments, critiques, and suggestions. General discussion is welcome too.
  16. For dying edges I use these foam applicators from Walmart. You get 36 for less that $2.
