  1. Not with the double as a rule. Unless they hook it hard like hanging from something and then you're glad it releases.
  2. The client wanted an "A" on the cover for the recipient's name and a note from her great grandmother on the back. We transferred and engraved the note in the Great Grandmother's handwriting to give it an extra special touch. Also a couple of bookmarks.
  3. Made a few Christmas Collars for clients.
  4. One day I will learn to take progress pics. . . or make patterns. lol. Actually I do have a paper pattern I made, I suppose I could take some pics of that to give the idea.
  5. I used 4-5 oz. it's really very light, the tools will be much heavier and with the clips it's easy to take off between clients.
  6. Thanks. There's more small loops on the bottom divider but you can't see them in the pic. Apparently now I have orders for quivers for archery in a similar style.
  7. A Christmas present for my girlfriend's daughter who is a hairdresser.
  8. I love how "dirty" the first one looks. Like it's been around for a lot of years and collected a lot of planet on it.
  9. I like that you managed to do this without any wrinkles in the suede. . . well done.
  10. Its' hard to tell if it's lined or if that's just the flesh side? Is it lined? Also, love the tray, very nice look.
  11. Thanks for all the advice folks, I'm an old hand at trade shows so there's no issues with me being friendly and saying 'hi' to everyone. We had already planned on using our business cards as our price tags so I'm glad to see that people think we are on track with that. With regards to items we're running quite a variety so I expect there's something for everyone at our booth including cuffs, bracelets, chokers, dog collars and leashes, notebooks, bookmarks, large bags, small bags, belts, and a few other things. If there's more advice feel free to keep it coming! Stuart
  12. So we have our first craft show in 2 weeks and I was wondering what advice folks might have. We're doing a bunch of cuffs, bracelets, notebook covers, misc bags etc. Any suggestions for setup, products pricing etc from the more experienced folks here?
  13. I usually cut it 50/50 with water, and I use a siphon feed single action to apply the resoline since I"m not trying to do any effects, just get an even coat. I'm actually not sure what pressure I'm set at right now, I should check. It's not a huge concern with resoline as you'll stay well off the work and let it mist on, just make sure you wear a respirator, resoline is not so easy on the lungs.
  14. You say that, but I've had some epic fails with streaking using the waterstains. Again, until I started airbrushing everything.
  15. I'm the same, basting tape to hold the cord on a piece about 3" wide, fold it, stitch it (with a machine) tight to the cord then cut off the excess close to the stitching freehand with a round knife, then shape the ends.
  16. Well my girlfriend and I made a bag yesterday, turned out pretty well we think.
  17. I've had this one for about 2 years and we just never pulled it out. In the mean time I've had all sorts of issues getting dyes to be consistent, even, applying resoline without washing away some of the dye etc etc and now with an airbrush everything is awesome.
  18. That sounds painful, I'll stick to the airbrush. That having been said it's good to know the different ways as not every project can be done with my airbrush.
  19. I airbrushed the whole thing with Fiebings British Tan, then hit the edges with the airbrush and usmc black. Then I rubbed it all down with carnauba cream from Tandy. However I usually use the tandy waterstains which absorb super well from teh airbrush where as the usmc black sat a lot of particles on the surface so they rubbed around a bit which caused a bit of a dirtying effect which as it turns out I quite liked.
  20. Turned some scraps into a present for my girl.
  21. Honestly it's the single best purchase I've made when it comes to dyeing. Suddenly colours are consistent, easy to apply, no weird results when resoline goes on, and some cool effects are now open to me with Multi-tones.
  22. I airbrush it. Basically my dyeing bench has parchment paper laid down, then I put down a strip of paper towel, then the project. Then I hit it with the airbrush. If I need to be super anal about keeping the back clean I'll cover it with packing tape but I prefer not to do that if I can avoid it because it pulls up the fibers on the flesh side and that makes it harder to slick down again for a finished look.
