  3. Hey Shadow i miss my bikes man but due to a disability i can no longer ride, i remember a guy called sifty who was in the gypsy hawkes, belive he died sadly, i believe they were based in north wales if my memory is not playing me up, i live i huddersfield, it used to be a great place for bikers. Bikes stay in the blood , even when you can no longer ride.
  4. Hey Shadow, you nailed it man. I imagine it can be quite hard to tune in to what a customer sees inside their head, but you definately captured the mood with this one, i love the braiding work, hope the customer likes it too.
  5. Thank you for the kind words.
  6. Hi ,so i made a wristband for my wife, i did not add any treatment to the inside of the strap but it still makes her arm itch, has anyone else had this problem and did they solve it. I know the obvious solution is to line it but with what, i tought about some sort of cloth but worried about the edges looking bad where the join would be, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
  7. Hey mungo, i am newish to leatherwork, but i believe you would normally add oil to a piece after dyeing but before adding finish. I think it helps when leather has dried out due to the dyeing process.
  8. The thread is ritza 25 tiger thread. Hey suprize have you thought about buying belt blanks for the belts and maybe a thinner shoulder for wallets and the like. Also you could do with a stitching pony if you do not have one already.

  10. From the album: Sheaths for my new knives

I just made these for my new knives, funny thing is C S OSBORNE sell a leather sheath fr their roundknife, you would think anyone buying that knife would want to make their own.
  11. Does this help,
  12. Hi Sean, i recently finished a ladies saddle bag for my wife, so similar to a satchel, i made the main body of the bag from 2 to 2.5 shoulder, and the gusset from 1.5 to 2mm shoulder so it was a bit easier for bending and turning for the stitching bend. Both shoulders were from Metropolitan leather and were fantastic. The finish on the back of their leathers is so good you do not have to line it if you can keep it clean while you make the bag. Also if you ring metropolitan they are happy to send you samples, i think they are a great company. As suggested above you might consider using pre dyed also which they do, if you need any more info about Metropolitan do not hesitate to ask, good luck.
  13. Well, i am off for a bath now(sorry if that is a bit too much info), but it was nice to meet you Gill, hope we can chat again soon maybe in the chatroom on this forum later on of you can make it. I have been complaining that there are not enough English leaherworkers around here, so it will be fab if you can stay around here as a fellow Yorkshire leathercrafter. Take care and bye for now.
  14. Yes i do remember Docs, can you still buy them i wonder, hello squirrel. Hey Gill, just found these,http://www.amazon.co.uk/Martens-1460z-Cherry-Red-Smooth/dp/B0007PQ13I/ref=sr_1_4?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1427148459&sr=1-4&key

    First wallet

The inner corners of the pleats are no where near curvy enough for my liking, if anyone can help in how to get them more curvy i would appreciate the help.I want the inner curve to follow the line of the outer curve.
  16. I too get a bit disillusioned when i see work of this calibre , absolutely stunning.
  17. I have got into leatherwork because of a disability which affects my mobility, i played jazz and blues guitar for 40 plus years but can no longer play in bands and the like, i also had to give up work. So after feeling sorry for myself for a few years i realized i needed a new outlet for my creative energy. When i was very young i got into a bit of trouble with the law and was sent to a kind of attendance centre as punishment, it actually turned out to be great as we did leatherwork and glasswork so after doing a bit of research on you tube and buying a couple of books i decided to give it a go and i have to say i am truly hooked on it. Just before i scare you off that was the one and only time i ever got into trouble with the law , i have been a perfect angel for the last 39 or so years. How about you? Sorry when i say how about you i was asking how you got into leatherwork, not if you had ever been in any trouble, lol.

Thank Tugadude, you are spot on about me studying up for quite a while before i could afford to buy some tools and leather to get going so i kinda jumped in at the deep end, but there are also quite a few projects in the bin i have not shown. I once heard someone say an expert is someone who has made more mistakes than anyone else, i liked that.
  19. Also Gill, if you fancy a good chat about leatherwork, i have been going on chat near to midnight lately, leatherwytch and double c and squrelly have been on at that time and we have a good old chat and a laugh, you should join us if you want.
  20. No Gill, i am not up to that standard yet, only been leathering for a few months, i have just put some pics up in the gallery for the first time if you want to see my work. Can you recommend some good craft fairs to visit.
  21. Hello Gill, i am not too far awy from you in Huddersfield, i wish you had a picture of the first lighter brown bag opened up so i could see the inside pocket, i made a similar bag for my wife but she now wants another bag making with an inside pocket like yours, would love to see how you attatched it.
  22. This is incredible, will be asking how you did this on chat tonight, see you there.
