  1. I was also going to suggest Tony See.
  2. If you could find a used consew 206rb1, 2, or 3 that should take care of your needs. 92 thread is in the sweet spot and the Japanese built ones are like tanks. I'm not an expert on these by any means.
  3. Thanks, she's been a frequent supporter of my work. Crazy to think I would do this much hand stitching when I own two machines. I'm just still intimidated by them. I have a bunch of totes I'm going to incorporate this style of handle into. I have never wanted to try the pipes filled purse handles because of all the piece, parts, and steps involved, but this seems pretty simple and I suspect would be a welcomed feature in the south.
  4. Thanks. The co-worker who ordered the bag turned in a 180,000 in sales last month. Most of that was new construction with a builder she supplies materials only for. I never break $40,000 in sales but I get an hourly rate as well for over seeing special projects and maintenance.
  5. We are well for now. With the wife being an art teacher and me working in construction we are able to keep the household costs up to date. We aren't being hit nearly as hard as the rest of the world. Luckily my boss is an excellent business man. We are actually taking on a new showroom during this time. I'm very blessed.
  6. Thanks munk. It's nice to be inspired again. I think I took a solid year off. I have been on a satorial adventure. My interest in things just comes and goes.
  7. Also, even though I love the pull up leather, I kind of hate how you can't really glue it. That makes getting the stitching started a real pain.
  8. Hey everyone, I know it's been a long while since I have brought anything to the table. Well here is a bag I made for a coworker. She was pretty adamant about having just one shoulder strap and no handles. This is crazy horse leather from Arcadia. This was my first attempt at a mystery braid and it worked out well enough for me to use my practice piece. Also, I have never attempted a swelled gusset before. I had a few hiccups with it, but I think it turned out ok. I would like to give a shout out to Nigel for his pattern making tutorials. I can't find a better way to blow 4 bucks a month. More pics to come.
  9. I actually have an associate/buddy test driving that bag this week. He'll be buying it. Thanks guys.
  10. Yep, I learned that from @NVLeatherWorx. Unfortunately, I had been stumbling along doing one offs for about 2 years already.
  11. Yes. It's a buffed finish pull-up from Acadia. It's called crazy horse. I can't remember the color. If you follow Acadia on Instagram they have sales almost daily that aren't listed on their website. It may even be considered an oil tan. The color change our "pull-up" is achieved by stuffing it with tallows and waxes. It's pretty weather friendly, but on a side note, it doesn't glue very well.
  12. Thanks guys. As I mentioned before I just wanted to bang one out without having to make any adjustments. Also, I had recently purchased some second hand sinabroks hole punches I was itching to try out. And, I had some huge thread I wanted to use up. These are what led me to making it how Tony designed the pattern. A lot of his army of followers are also of the notion that if it isn't vegtan and handsewn it will fall apart in a month. That's not really his fault, it's just newbs being newbs. As far as machine sewing goes, I'm still pretty gun shy of my two machines. I did however, find a company similar to Tony's on Etsy that has some machine sewing patterns. I might try a few of those to get my feet a little wet.
  13. Thanks. @battlemunky to be honest, I have more ideas pop in my head than I ever get around to building. I haven't even made racks in my French cleat system for my tools yet. Lol.
  14. Thanks, Old. I may donate it to a church art sale we are doing next month. We'll see. I just wanted to get one of his patterns under my belt and following instructions seemed the most fool proof way to move along with it. Jeez Louise I've probably spent 150 on his patterns and never built one. And, I recently bout some sinabroks second hand 1.5mm hole punches and wanted to try them out. Thanks other Matt. I'm glad everyone likes it. Building it did prompt some stitching pony ideas for sure. Some of the assembly was tough to get going.
  15. Leave it be, it'll look better as it ages. Pull up is pretty much hot stuffed with oils and waxes. It doesn't require any finish.
  16. Welcome aboard. I live in Shreveport now, but hail from the Great Republic. I grew up in Ellis county. I've lived in both Ft Worth and Houston, then found the only woman worth leaving Texas for.
  17. In my family, involving my first wife and my current wife, our children all seemed to get mom's feet and dad's crooked fingers. Ferg, I hope you succeed in your challenge. I gave up awhile back on the shoes, but I may be inspired once again to try. It just got so confusing for me as a hobby project.
  18. Another tip that came in handy from @koreric75 was to not try and template the strap goods. Just run them through the strap cutter. Measure to length on your taped up pages and then use the template ends for punching out the appropriate holes. This worked out great. Also, I took a lot from Nigel's Vimeo page on using squares and straight edges.
