  1. Thanks. I got a Office Accounting step by step book, but it assumes you have some clue about accounting terms, which I do not. F1 is typical Microsoft help, which isn't very good or readable. I am set up as a sole proprietorship in a manufacturing business and according to the state of Washington, I have to pay taxes Quarterly and pay use tax on equipment, etc. A big pain! No wonder small businesses have a hard time keeping alive. You have to spend all your time doing accounting or all your profit on Accountants.
  2. Yeah, this is basically the same one that I am using with a few less features. I think my frustration comes from the fact that I know nothing about accounting. I just wish accountants didn't cost so much or that I didn't need them to do "simple" things.
  3. I bought this set the other day to try it out on a project. I don't really like this set as each stamp has a little bump on the end of the stamp causing a deeper impression on the leather at the ends. Has anyone else used this stamp with success and can you give some good pointers? I used it until my hands were sore last night and still could not get a good impression with them that looked professional. Thanks!
  4. I didn't see a section in the business area for this, so sorry Johanna if I posted in the wrong place. Anyway, I am new to the whole "Accounting" end of things and have bought Microsoft Small Business Accounting 2008 Professional. (Actually I have an MSDN subscription, so I got it for free ) It seems rather clunky for it being touted for the small business person. Maybe it is because I don't understand the accounting end of things as I should and can't afford an accountant as of yet to help me out or maybe it is because I am thinking I should be able to do things that you are just not allowed to in accounting. Like simply deposit a check for a loan to my company or keep track of inventory that I don't sell but use in the process of making goods. Anyway, my question is this: What accounting software, if any, do you guys who have been in their own business for a while use? And why do you use that particular software (what are the features you like and don't like)? Thanks!
  5. Anyone wanting more information on airbrushes should check out: http://airbrushtechnique.com/. Excellent people on there willing to help along with some tutorials on how to use and clean an air brush.
  6. Even though I am finishing up on this last round, I am willing for round 2! Ding!
  7. I should be finishing your "treat" this next week, so expect it the next. It is not something I have done before, so I hope it turns out as well as I am picturing it finished.
  8. I was surfing around on Craigslist a few days ago and saw an ad for some leather working tools. After a few emails, I picked up these last night. The good part is they are mostly all CS Osborne tools and the total cost: $80.00! The lady said that they were her grandfather's tool who passed away recently and she didn't want them to go to waste. She was actually entertaining thoughts of some other offers for more $$$'s, but when I originally contacted her, the link to my web site was in the email. She went to the site and took a look around and decided the tools were going to me with a caveat... I would have to make her a new belt along with the $80. I said "Cool, no problem". Now, I haven't even started HER belt and she sends me an email this morning stating she has gotten me 8 more orders for belts from her girlfriends! So, it looks like I will have some work to do with at least SOME of the new tools and some new customers. Talking about a good day.
  9. Here is as good a pic of the knife as I have. The edge is laced in a really screwy way. I just randomly picked holes to put the lace through to give it a caveman type appearance. This knife and sheath went went 9 others to the OKCA show in Eugene, OR.Here are a couple of other sheaths going to the OKCA show:

    Lace Maker

There is a tutorial on the main site about how to use that lace maker. Hope that helps!
  11. You know, I am from Oklahoma and I don't remember much being in the panhandle. LOL JK.
  12. Here is another sheath I made for a knife maker in my area, the knife has real mammoth ivory in the handle, so thought I might try following that theme. This is the first sheath I made like this, and he was really please with it.
  13. You do such wonderful work Tina, I always look forward to seeing your stuff and this is no exception. Awesome job!
  14. I have used olive oil on several things and I have to agree with art, that it comes out looking more like neatsfoot oil than anything else. Take a look at the quiver my son and I did in the Archery section of this forum. It was finished with Olive oil.
  15. nice looking boy you got there. I love it when my son comes in and sits with me. Though lately I have been pressed to get some customer work done, so I have had to shoo him out. Maybe I will make it up to him this weekend and do a project with him. Maybe something with a spider in it... hmmmmm.
  16. I'll give it a go. What do ya need?
  17. LOL, that is where I got my latest one. It works great and for $42 you can't beat it. Now for a bandsaw.....
  18. Is your buddy still willing to make another one of these? If so, how much does he want for one?
  19. Thanks Bruce, that gives me some ideas. I was thinking of getting some hardwood dowels and drilling a hole through the center and then using a file to do just that, but wasn't sure if the dowels were the right kind of wood. On the other hand, I am sure I could buy a piece of cocobolo from a knife maker friend of mine and see if I can come up with someone that has a lathe that I could use to turn that into a slicker. I have one of Tandy's nylon circle slicker that has finally given up the ghost after 15 years of doing belts and wallets and such, but it is much too narrow to do some of the stacked leather things that I do. Thanks for the pics. I now have some ideas. Edit: Also, with the wood, what speed are you running on the drill? Mine is a five speed that I can run from about 610 rpm to about 3100 rpm.
  20. Is there something I can chuck up in my drill press to slick up the edges on stacked leather? An aluminum bar, plastic rod, cocobolo ??? Doing it by hand is getting tiring. Oh, I am talking stacked leather up to 3/4" thick or more. Thanks!
  21. It will run. go with the Fiebing's Acrylic Resolene or Neatlac. Both work well.
  22. Just ordered a mahogany and a light brown. I will report back when I get them and have had a chance to test them out.
  23. Looking at both seats, you should win hands down. Very nicely done!
