  1. I love looking at your stuff Dave. Your work is fantasic. Great looking seat!
  2. thanks for the kind words guys. Happy Easter!
  3. Here is a tool bag i finished for a customer. He got it this last Wednesday and said he really liked it, he even threw in an extra $30 on top of the asking price...
  4. LOL...thanks spidy! "Stab" is right. i can't tell you how many times i poked myself when stitching this up. i forgot how much more difficult it is to sew through almost 3/4" of leather! Especially without a stitching pony!
  5. thanks guys for the comments. There is a stitching groove in there, the pics just don't show it much. it is the first handstitching I have done in 15 years as well, being a lace guy, so it was a little challenging, but the customer just loves it, so I think that is what counts. I didn't think about the slicking, good call. i have 4 more sheaths to go, so everything should shooth out over the next couple.
  6. Well, it is not perfect, but this is my first sheath in 15 years. Hope ya'll like it!And another shot.
  7. I had already decided to do something for wildrose just to follow the list. I even started it last night. It just seemed the easiest way. tazzman* wildrose* Cecil Johanna SCOUTER Myriam Froghunter Kani Rayban Bob Regis Wood? Clay (M) Banwell Hoyden jammon ferret Beaverslayer CitizenKate ETW Grumpy
  8. hey Duke, do you guys have scrap pieces of the hair on stuff? If so, I may stop in tomorrow.
  9. That looks great! I love the celtic pattern for the wings. Good luck with the dye. I still cringe every time I think about doing the dye on my projects and yet I still do it.
  10. Thanks! I think I was searching with the wrong term. The only issue is that I need it within the next few days, but it may have to wait if I can't find an alternative.
  11. I am looking for a small piece of fur on cow hide in either maroon or white so that I can dye it maroon. Anyone know where I can get some? I don't need a whole hide, just about a 4 inch by 6 inch piece for a knife sheath. I tried ebay and google, but no luck.
  12. That looks awesome brent! Wish I had one that nice. I have a Tandy one that works, But really need two.
  13. I think it is a good idea as long as no-one makes anything UNTIL they get a PM from the previous recipient that they will be getting something. Or something to that effect. Otherwise, this might get carried away and two or three people might start making something for one person.
  14. We have a Tandy's in the area and an Oregon Leather Co. store. The Tandy store has given the ok to host a Leather Guild, if anyone is interested in that. If so, make sure you sign up at the store on Whittaker Way. electrathon, what days are generally good for you? Saturday mornings are kind of out for me, but the afternoon's are fine. Tuesday nights are out, but most other days are fine. Anyone else?
  15. I think it is a great idea....and I would LOVE something from you.
  16. In a pinch, when I ran out and couldn't take the time to go get some dye reducer, I have used auto paint reducer. Works just as well, just a little more spendy than the dye reducer, though I buy by the gallon and if I am not doing any painting on motorcycles, a gallon could last me about 4 years in doing leather work!
  17. Beautiful work Brent! I have been thinking of making something similar. I saw on the net somewhere, where someone made a mini set of gun holsters for the swivel knife. Looked like it would be a fun project. Keep up the good work!
  18. Anyone in the Portland, OR / Vancouver area want to get together and socialize or maybe pound some leather and share ideas?
  19. Tina, we are our own worst critics. Your tooling is top notch. My wife want this bag. I can't get her to stop drooling on my shoulder when she looks at it while I am in front of the computer. I had to put plastic wrap on the keyboard to keep it from getting wet. LOL All kidding aside, that is an AWESOME purse!
  20. Beautiful seat! Can't wait to see it finished. I love that style of lacing!
  21. Hey Beav! Looks Awesome, can't wait to see this one progress!
  22. Yeah, that is too bad. I would love to get together with others in this area and share ideas, tips, tricks and other things.
  23. Kewl, thanks! I joined up over there and took a look around. I already had my thoughts about the welt and knew why it was there, just was never too sure about where it needed to be skived, etc. As I stated earlier, I just wet formed all my personal sheaths or used a folded style and some sort of strap retention to hold them in place. I found out a while back what a rivet can do to a nice knife, so I always cover them now. I played around with some leather last night on one of the knives and came up with a pretty nice sheath, just needed to get some more info on the welt, so I could finish it up properly. Thanks again!
  24. I have not made a sheath for someone else before and was asked to make 4 for a custom knife maker. I know how to make the basic sheath, but was curious if anyone could enlighten me on welt (or would that be a gusset?) design and maybe post some photos. (I am a visual type learner). I have always preferred some sort of snap to keep the knife in place, but thought it might be a good thing to know and practice on some of his custom knives to come up with some good sheaths to send him. Thanks!
  25. WOW!.......WOW!.....ummmmm...... WOW!
