  1. That's about the only thing exciting on this seat Dave
  2. Well, when you're 19 and building your first bike....I'm sure he'll find a lot of thing he'll do differently on his next one. Dave
  3. Nice wallet, great tooling, I like the subject....I did a suicide king for my very first bike seat It was for my son....Joe. It looks pretty pathetic now. Dave
  4. Sucker Punch is introducing a new model this year. It is based on a 1972 FLH frame (heavily modified) The frame is now a rigid with the axel centerline raised almost 2 inches. It makes for a really LOW bike....Anyway they requested a seat (regular padding and double loop) for the first one off the porduction line. The instructions were to do something like SuckerPunch 72 Sallys With rounded lettering.... not block style lettering or old English. Feedback welcome Dave Theobald
  5. Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I sure appreciated getting the pictures from him. Dave
  6. Cool Artwork it would make a nice old school bike seat! Keep up the good work and welcome to Leatherworker.net David Theobald
  7. I'll give the guy a month with those bars and he'll put something comfortable to ride on his bike. The first time his hands and arms fall asleep while he's riding....they'll be gone. The silver dollars are just done for decoration on the back....I don't charge extra for them....If i didn't put them on, I'd do some tooling on that area....It just finishes the seat off a little better. Dave
  8. Also try, http://andersonleather.com/ Dave
  9. Some months back, I built a seat for a fellow who was making his first bike. I received these pics today of his ride in mock up form....It has now been torn down and sent for paint, powdercoat and chrome. It is a unique ride .... I always appreciate hearing from customers as their bike progresses Dave Theobald
  10. I quit the month before our youngest child was born. He is currently a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Time still flies when you're sober. The flask is very well done, just be sure you never sell anything with a mark like that. The penalty is outrageous. Dave ps I do patent and trademark work in my "real job".
  11. I can virtually guarantee that every seat I make goes on a bike that is ridden. For my seats, if the stain is tan or natural leather I use Fiebings Leather Balm with Atom wax.....Picards is good too. If the seat is black, I've begun using Neat Lac to stop the problem with crocking that occurs is some dyed black leather. Use that Neat Lac in a well ventilated area....it stinks of the lacquer base. Dave
  12. Paul, Outstanding work. thanks for posting them for all of us to see. Dave
  13. Beautiful work Roger. As always, but that color is outstanding. Dave
  14. Happy birthday Wade and many more to come. Thank you for all sacrifices you've made as your wife has created the best website on the net. Best to you on this special day Dave Theobald
  15. Roger, So glad to hear that business is picking up. Maintaining a 2 month backlog is just about right. Customers won't look elsewhere if they have to wait two months and you can work at your own pace. Congrats, Dave Oh did you ever spring for the sewing machine?
  16. I sure wish I had the time to do some bags, saddle and tool bags both....maybe someday. You did send me some larger black rivets but the holes in those West Eagle seat pans will require an expanded rivet head in excess of 3/16" to prevent pull through. The ones you sent pulled through after expansion. I'll check out the source that you gave me. I like that fact that you can buy in smaller quantities, I sure don't need 10000 rivets of any size. Thanks Dave
  17. Hey Roger, How's business? The black rivets were still too small to use without a washer, I didn't get any yet because everyone wants me to order 10000 of them.....That would last me a lifetime. Dave
  18. I dont know if you allowed for this, but, when you use the cushion for the pattern and then punch holes and lace it together your NEW cushion size is measured to the inside of the holes. To make the cushion fit, you would have to enlarge your pattern by the distance from the inside of the holes to the edge of the leather. for example if your cushion is 15" square and you use 1/8" dia. holes that are 1/8" from the edge of the leather your pattern should be enlarged by 1/4" on all sides or 15 1/2" square.
  19. Hi all, The scenery here in southwestern Ohio is much less majestic, so I don't have any grand vistas to show everyone; but last fall, after a significant dought all summer the fall maples were quite nice. Here is our backyard.
  20. After a very leisurely Saturday evening and Sunday morning of lacing, the seat is pretty much finished and waiting for stain and finish. Feedback and suggestions always welcome. Dave Theobald
  21. Hey Ken,I liked the skull idea too, but I only like to do very realistic skulls and I didn't feel I could get enough line work detail in the skull to satisfy me. SO coins it is.Dave Hi Kay,Thanks for taking the time to look and respond. I really like the look of your embroidery on suede. A really great idea. Have to show that the my wife.....Thanks again,Dave
  22. You are probably right John. It appears that it is the slogan of the RAF east fortune in Scotland and also the KAG soccer team in England. Anyway here is the seat now ready to start lacing. Dave
  23. Thanks for the comments guys. I substituted some coin conchos for a skull carving on the back. The front and back are now complete....Time to start assembling Here are the front and back hides and a small skull I started and rejected. Hope you enjoy them
