Anyone have a sharpness test other than shaving hair or cutting Grandma's silk scarf?

I just use it to slice a piece of paper.  Hold up the paper and cut with the blade perpendicular to the edge.   I can feel if there is any drag where there might be a burr, or a nick still.  It should go through with a fairly quiet shhhhhhtttttt sound, and not leave any jagged edges in the cut.  If it hangs up at all, back to work.  Go straight, make curves as you pass it through the paper.

I know it's been a hot minute, but how did your edge come out?

Nice!  I’ve heard of box stitch but that looks like a tornado stitch!

When the stitching is the fun part of the project....

@Rossr nice work!  Interestingly, I also made a thing recently...but no tornado stitch...

Very handsome!  How did you seal/burnish the flesh side of the flap?

Thanks much!  Pretty simple, I just put dye on the flesh side, then after it dried, I brushed it with tankote, and slicked it down with a glass slicker.  Would be much better to get it from the tannery already dyed and gum-pasted, but it is what I had so that's how I handled it.

Sometimes it looks like it is adding up all the pictures in a post, other times seems just fine.  Good luck.

Seems to have done the trick!  ??

I’ll just add extra pictures as comments on my own post and they get merged anyway.

Usually works for me also.  The logout/close window/new window/login seems to have done the trick.  Was able to post more images of the hip bag I did with the fur on cow hide I bought from you some time back!  Came out pretty good, thanks!

I resize my photos to under 1000 pixels. 800 still provides a  nice, sharp photo on a computer screen.

I'll keep it in mind,  I usually just try to make sure all the images I post stay under the 1.4mb limit.

  5. All right, finally got to get this image thing sorted out.  Here are some additional photos, showing how I addressed the ugly edges.  I made a "T" out of the liner, and did basically two rolled edges with it.  So the top section you only see leather, and not the layers.  Then, I dyed the remaining edge black so even if you do look at it, not much to see, so it does not distract from the aesthetics.  I also made the side a bit more vertical, which prevented the gusset from pulling away from the ugly edge, exposing less of it.  Reduced the width of the rolled edge on the front.  Changed the profile of the cover as well.  I think it lends to a more masculine look as well.  Thanks to @tsunkasapa for the images and suggestions, as well as @Hags and @Stewey regarding dye on the edge, @Tugadude suggesting more rolling for the side as well, @chuck123wapati for decreasing the angle at the top of the front plate (making it more vertical) and @RockyAussie for reducing the width the rolled edge.  I debated @chrisash suggestion, but decided to try all the other options first to see if it got me 90% of where I wanted it to go.  It did inspire me to roll and stitch the topside of the gusset tho, so there's that!  Thanks again, everyone, I think this version of the design is much better with all these suggestions.

Maybe the next photo is taking you over the limit.  Try resizing to about 1024 x 768 pixels.  That should produce files around 50k with adequate resolution for most screens and allow you to post  a lot of photos in one go.

I tried that too, no go.  Maybe I'll just log out, reboot and see what happens...
