  1. Looks great but in the first ones it looks like the leaves are rasied away from the leather. Is that so or am I looking at it wrong. Still looks aewsome.
  2. That is pretty nice. Did you dye it your self or get that predyed black leather.
  3. Well guys I got some variouse dyes and what not for my original project which was suppose to be my motorycle seat. However when I tried mixing the white and black (feibings dye) with a little of the dye thinner the white dye just puddled up in a goop ball. Guess maybe its water based or something but it didnt say. So the question is how do I do a nice dark grey color. I have a silver bike with lots of chrome and would like to do my seat and bags (eventually) in a nice dark grey. Do you all jsut do a thinned out black, does that give nice results or do you have to do acrylics. If I have to do acrylics I have not researched that at all so that opens up another can of worms. Guess that may be another thread but can acrylics even be used for motorcycle seats. Thanks for your input.
  4. Well I think I figured it out. Since I dont want any bolts going thru my work, so I will attach it under the front seat at the back where the rear of the solt attaches to the fender. Then Ill install some of those magnets that are rare earth and come in coin looking stainless shapes. I dont know how many of those Ill need but it should keep the thing from flapping around and be easy to remove and install. I saw some other ones and they all seemed to either use velcro which is glued to the fender or they used 3m sticky tape. The velcro isnt a bad idea I just dont know if I want it glued to my fender or not. However if the magnets dont work then Ill go the velcro route. I doubt the sticky side would do anything to the paint.
  5. So you do all that lettering by hand or should I say by not using a punch but free handing it. That is impressive and must take a long time.
  6. That is really nice. I hope some day I get the ability to do small stuff like that without making it look like a fight broke out lol. I ecspecially like the koi. Did you paint the dye or use a airbrush?
  7. OK so anyone that has built some fender bibs what way did you attach them to the motorcycle. I understand you can bolt them down to the rear seat bolt holes however I dont want any buttons or bolts going thru my bib because Im gonna tool up a nice design on it and want to lace the edges. I can attach it under the the front seat but dont want it flapping in the wind if ya know what I mean. Thanks for any input
  8. Hey guys jsut thought incase noone got the flyer or anything but among other things until like the 26 of this month. The tejas supreme leather lace in 1/8 and something else is like $15 for 50yd spool. Thats half off. Probably the best deal they have going right now. May have to call them because I dont think its listed online. Cheers
  9. Looks really good man, and I love that sissy bar, they go together very well.
  10. LOL I wonder where that guy works. Great job that is some amazing work, the lettering is fantastic.
  11. Hey guys just wondering if anyone here ever uses this stuff and what your opinions were on it. I have both the LP stuff which I use alot for my boots and saddlebags on my bike. I have the oil stuff that I use on my jacket and I even have a bottle of the silicon repellent stuff for the winter (WA state sucks in the winter (Nov thru May lol) ) Anyways is this stuff decent or should one stear clear of it for any reason. Thanks, and sorry if this has been asked before.
  12. That looks really nice. Did you line it with anything? That inlay looks really good.
  13. Very nicely done, that looks really good (IMHO). I think it may shrink a bit but I wouldnt hope for too much.
  14. Tandy has it here, third one down on the right http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/products.asp?dept=413
  15. Thats very nice, I have to say the red over the black really is great looking. What did you use to make that background. (IM kind of new so) It looks really good.
  16. Those look really great. How much do you guys usually get for these guys anyways.
  17. Thanks for the help and links guys.
  18. Looks good, the celtic stuff isnt the easiest to do as I recently found out. Outstanding work.
  19. OK thanks for the input. I think Ill try a couple of places and give springfeild a call. Sounds like fun. Any suggestions for using this stuff. What do you seal it with if anything? Im sure once I get it Ill have a bunch of questions for you guys that have used it before.
  20. Hey guys jsut wondering if anyone has purchased any of the stingray hides from ebay. I was wanting to play with one or two to see if I liked them for doing different things and about the only place I have found them is on ebay. Are they any good. Pretty much just one shop that sends them from thailand I believe. I know most of ya proably dont liek ebay but sometimes I have found it to be a pretty good resource for variouse things. I am going to be doing my girlfriends motorcycle seat and would like to do something interesting and different. Its for a little sport bike (aka crotchrocket). Dont worry Im slowly trying to get her onto a cruiser. Anyways I think it would look really cool just it would take 2 or 3 average size skins for the seat. Thanks for any input.
  21. LOL yeah, I tested a piece of the fabric and glued it to itself with the leather glue from tandy. Seemed to work pretty good and took some force to pull it apart. It also didnt leach thru the fabric. Its just the bond wasnt as strong as I really would like. I picked up some upholstery fabric (feels allmost like suede on one side for couches and stuff, very nice looking and feel while being pretty strong) at Joann's to play with and figured I could try my hand at some wallets. Wanted to play with this because I got some really cool colors.
  22. OK thanks guys, I wasnt sure if the 3M stuff would harm the leather to terribly much. I know leather doesnt like petroleum products. I think Ill give that a try though as I use 3m for alot of other things. Thanks
  23. Hey guys jsut wondering what is the best way to get some fabric glued to the flesh side of leather. I am making a wallet and would like to line the inside of the main piece with some cool fabric that I got. Ive got some leather glue, not sure if that will hold it. I plan on lacing the edges but need something in the middle to hold it against the leather. Thanks for your input.
  24. Well gotta bumb this as it is trully a great idea and good job. I saw the other thread with the finished product and it looks great. May I suggest put a pic of the finished product in this thread so you can see it all the way thru
