Thank you, sir! Same here--I've kind of turned into an accidental collector over the years.

Thought I'd put up a couple of my round knives here in the "Show Off" category. I've been using them as a Maker for over 30-years, and became obsessed with making them myself a few years ago. I made my first one about 18-months ago with influence from everybody from CS Osborne to Danny Marlin, and everybody in-between. I chose to use AEB-L stainless steel for my blades as it was developed for razor blades, and it's got years of successful history. It's been around a LONG time. All of my blades are professionally heat treated by Buck Knives/Bos Heat Treating out in Post Falls, Idaho. The fasteners on these two are stainless steel Loveless bolts designed by the late knifemaker Bob Loveless. Handle material is DymaLux which I've found to be outstanding to work with, and provides a solid weight and density. It finishes nicely, too. Thanks for looking!

Reasonable expectations to the life of a leather item
BruceGibson replied to nstarleather's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I'm not a fan of the "100-year" guarantees, or the "great grandkids will fight over it when you're dead" marketing manure. I have no idea what the statistics would be these days for an operation to exist that long, but I'd bet it's near 0%. When I see those, I just pass them by--the only real guarantee with those operations is you'll need tall boots and a shovel at some point. -
Trimming Lining
BruceGibson replied to 327fed's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I do the same as @fredk but I typically line with Hermann Oak, so I'll trim it back from the edge, and then skive it a bit. The result is the same and you don't see the liner edge. -

Well done! I'd say that's easily better than the original. -
How to keep leather/Patterns flat while cutting.
BruceGibson replied to Littlef's topic in How Do I Do That?
Pardon the messy bench. I had a good bit of moccasin tanned leather and decided to try regular BB's from Walmart to see how they'd work out. I've got three "shot bags" that I've used for years and they do just what I need them to. You can make whatever size/weight you need. I know a lot of folks were using lead shot, but I had no idea where to get it. Regular ol' BB's do the trick. -

A Belt Thank You
BruceGibson replied to Dwight's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice job! Reminds me of a saying an old Broadcast Law professor used to use. "Everything's easy when you know how." Gaining the know-how is difficult many times, but once you've got it, the sky's the limit. Jeff over at Grey Ghost Graphics has a tutorial that I found very helpful years ago. Here's a link to it that y'all might find handy. https://greyghostgraphics.com/leather-working-tutorials/
