  1. I like it! I've never done a pocket holster, but I plan on starting to offer a few. I like everything about this one. The one dye color that has always given me fits--to the point I gave up and don't even offer it anymore--is Fiebing's Light Brown. That stuff would go on beautifully, then when I wet it for molding, it would develop dark "splotches" and just turn on me.
  2. I've used both, but the last several years I've gone to polyester exclusively. For all of the reasons you outlined above, plus more consistent machine performance over nylon.
  3. Have you checked with Cary to see if he has any on-hand? You can contact him through his website at www.CarySchwarz.com
  4. I've got a bunch of Jeremiah's tools and three of his DVD's. I highly recommend all of them. They're pricey, but worth it. His DVD on floral carving made all the difference for me. I always order direct from him and Colleen, and they're both a pleasure to deal with.
  5. Beautiful work! The first word that comes to mind is "clean." Outstanding.
  6. Beautiful work! And I can relate to the frustration of ordering/receiving the wrong number of the "little stuff."
  7. Welcome aboard, Jim! This is one of the single-best overall resources out there.
  8. I was curious to hear if anyone's having shipping issues with the US Postal Service. I use Priority Mail exclusively, and with the new Postmaster General and the moronic changes he's made since June, things have gone off the rails. I have one package shipped out to a customer 100-miles from me that arrived in Pensacola (the destination) overnight. However, the next day (today) it's in Austin, Texas. I have another, from a supplier, that's been laying idle in Jacksonville, Florida, since August 7th. I've also noticed my incoming "snail mail" has dwindled down to near-nothing. That's only two examples for me personally, but I'm thinking I'll open UPS and/or FEDEX accounts and bypass the ol' postal service completely. At least until the political sabre-rattling ends. Any thoughts?
  9. LMAO! And I agree with the "poverty is owning a horse" statement. On top of the endless expense, they're always looking for a place to die.
  10. Thanks, Josh! I haven't been doing much this year, but the Leatherworker Forum always motivates me. I miss hanging out around here and seeing what y'all are creating!
  11. Thank you for the comment. I rambled on, but I was trying to cover what I did and what I used.
  12. LOL! Thanks, Dwight...it's actually really good advice! Thank you--I wish I could take credit, but it's the Hermann Oak leather. The stuff's a joy to work with.
  13. Feedback's always welcome. This is an OWB/belt slide/pancake for a 4" or 4.25" Commander-length 1911. Ride's high, excellent retention and concealment, slots are for a 1.5" wide, dual-layer (1/4" thick) gun belt. The leather is two layers of 7/8 ounce Hermann Oak, and the stitching is #346 white polyester on top, and #277 polyester in the bobbin. I sewed this on my Leather Machine Company/Cobra Class 4P. The sight-track is molded-in using a wooden dowel and all edges are beveled and finished (including the belt slots). Fire away! Questions are always welcome, too.
  14. I did use a Blue Gun. As to the trigger guard, that's one of two primary points of retention. I don't build for modified 1911's, but I see your point regarding a trigger shoe. I've never had an issue with a stock trigger and a fully-covered trigger guard. There could be, under extremely rare conditions, the opportunity for an accidental/unintended discharge with any holster, but for it to occur under the conditions you outlined, with a properly functioning 1911, it would require an almost totally inept operator. Thanks for the kind words, and for taking the time to outline your concerns.
