  2. thats darn cute Storm!!...what if ya take a some kind of stamp tool or somethin and make little impressions for the toes and heel?? i'm talkin out my bottom cuz i yet to tool anything...just a thought i got lookin at it darryl
  3. im really likin the color scheme as well...looks inspired from the blue ringed octopus... darryl
  4. thanks jim...i'll check'em out... okay now i notice something else ...my needle plate has those ridges/gripper grooves...and when i was stitchin around a half moon corner at the end of a kinda strap piece i was practicing on...the bottom of my leather has those ridge marks in it...from me turning the strap slightly little by little to mak'er round the curve... any suggestions for this ?? is it just my ignorant greenhorn technic?? or do i need to look at a different needle plate without those?? fyi: i was practicing on 2ply of 10oz vegtan with the grain sides facing out on top and bottom... appreciate it!! darryl

  6. i really diggin this one as well tom...any of them with the lace tie or the strap back type are sweet...those two styles just seem to go with the whole renaissance bracer theme thingy that they remind me of darryl
  7. thats real purdy Tina...i dig the hair on look...very cool stuff!!...when you use hair on leathers and sew them to another piece do you have to shave the "to be stitched" edge of the hair on...like a 1/4 or half inch or so?? thanks darryl

  10. thanks ed...i tried it with backing it off a little at a time...still there...then i kept going and tryin...till i pretty much back'er off all the way...its not as noticable now...but the line is still faintly there??
  11. okay heres what i notice so far stitching with my toro 3000...the outside pressure foot that looks like a "L" shape...well inbetween the "L" (like between the straight up and down part of the "L") and my actual stitch line the leather is raised up...so basically if i'm making any sense with this...the straight part of the "L" compresses the leather so when i'm done i notice a faint line running down the piece of leather...where the leather compresses & is raised parallel along the length of the stitch i should add that i'm practicing on 10oz veg tan leather... so my question is the obvious...it there somethin i can do to eliminate this faint line it leaves?? like different foot or some tech tweak or somethin??...its one of those things that will drive me i also read somewhere on here that that little "fin" on the underside of my inside needle foot will need to go right?? cuz i already see when you stitch a square corner it leaves an impression outside of the stitch line as well...i'm using a versa groover for my stitch lines...so i get the feeling that the little fin thingy indeed needs to go?? ...and if anyone can tell me how they ground it off and buffed it smooth will be greatly appreciated!! darryl
  12. nice storm!!...ya can kill two birds with one stone doin those...just gotta make sure that ya finish the wrap before the jack darryl
  13. tracy your are correct on the breed ...and i totally agree with you about the agitation gear etc...something i do realize...but they will be just one line that i'll offer along with the custom ones...i figure if you don't offer'em ya can't sell'em...& for sure the working dog folks can be a damn tough crowd to make a name for yourself hehe...i plan on the custom ones being the main sellers and my primary focus...as people do like to show off their big'uns with an impressive leather collar around their neck... thanks tracy...regards, darryl

  24. thanks emily!! our family had a vizsla when i was knee high to a grasshopper =) ya i realize that theres alot of folks doing collars and pretty much about anything and everything we can think of...regardless what we choose to do in the craft...my philosophy is...regardless of what one decides to make...if it is a quality item/made well...it will always be marketable...and the other thing thats on our side is that??...theres alot of dogs in the world then ya never know where the leatherworkin will all lead...i haven't even really started and a buddy of mine thats a real avid hunter wants some custom gun slings made for'em...i thought that was cool =0) i definately will post up when i get to that point...but you'll will have to have patience...cuz i'm as green as grass right now and be a bit before i'll have one completed...hell!! it'll be a bit before all my tools get here to even have a go at it emily by any chance are you the same emily that posts on the longwoods board??...just curious =) darryl p.s thanks rdb, hedge, myriam, tina, rockywolf, tom. pip, beaver & don for the greets!!
