Ever seen this vacuum setup?
OLDNSLOW replied to carguy4471's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I went back and reread what I said and not sure what your getting at, I have used a vacuum table and still use one, but not with a household vacuum or a food processor, I do think the food processor would draw more vacuum than a house hold vacuum, but when I decided that I was going to attempt it I knew that I was going to need the largest pump I could afford or there was no point in attempting the process. Carguy if you keep an eye open on craigslist you might be able to find an automotive type pump that is for sale and or gather up a harbor freight coupon for 20% off and save up and buy one of there pumps, that along with the bag system you should be able to rig something up that can be used an put away when not in use. Take a look at Adams leather utube video and his use of one that is the system your wanting to put together. -

I wondered about those myself, however a vacuum is not going to provide enough deep vacuum that is needed to help do a vacuum form for a holster. I could be wrong and if you keep searching utube you might find where someone has used a household vacuum to form a holster, and I think if it is much thinner leather it may work well, but it is when you get up to the 8-9oz leather that it will lack the power needed to get any decent results. -

what you have found is a very basic system that would still need a vacuum pump capable of pulling a deep vacuum, there are other systems on the market that offer more than what is offered in that system. What is going to be the most costly part if the vacuum pump, there are systems out there that will include a pump and a vacuum table like set up. Wood workers are some of the craftsmen that started using those to help glue Formica to wood in all types of configurations. I did Kydex for a short time and built a system that is similar yet a little different than what you showing and it works great but there are draw backs and some jobs need to be handled with caution, I almost punched a hole in the membrane while forming a holster for a six shooter. Good luck -
Blue Gun for S&W SD40VE?
OLDNSLOW replied to stu925's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
the best thing to do right now is to go to the makers website and compare models, if there is a close similarity then you know you can use one model in place of the other. but are you sure you checked all the different sellers of mold guns to see is someone else makes a model for what your looking for? -
Thanks

and if momma wont let you tear up a white sheet you can buy a half yard or white rip stop nylon, that is the same material that is used in all the pro set ups for shoot through. And most material stores all carry the rip stop. And it much easier to find 5 to 6000 degree light bulbs today than it was years ago, the 5 to 6000 degree light range is what is closest to daylight lighting.

I use a creaser to create a channel for the thread to sit in it works for me, you may have to work at it to find what you like the best. I use the same size bottom as I do on top so that I don't have to buy a bunch of different thread.

and I think Tandy has a pattern for what I am looking for, it is a pattern that will hold shotgun shell boxes, I have tried looking it up under different names but not having any luck. If any one has one or can point me in the right direction I would be grateful as I may be asked to make one to fit 3 different caliber sizes. Thanks Ron.
