  1. Thank you, It's awesome how much one can learn from this site.
  2. The other way around. The lotion then the Supersheen. Once the super sheen goes on, it will seal and stop the lotion from penetrating into the leather.
  3. I have old stamps that came from the factory like that, too bad they need a "pro" series imo. They were all hand tuned back in the day, long lost are the days of pride in workmanship in the tool providers I guess.
  4. I believe that the op meant another club they belong to, not a member of the forum. I could be incorrect, but that's the way I read it. not sure if you will get a reply since the post is from mid summer last year.
  5. Many thanks for the tips from a new member. I have been thinking of trying this.
  6. After reading the replies, I did a quick goolge and found THIS article. I thought it might be somewhat educational for some.
  7. The key thing is you learned. The best part is that you can change your designs from learning. Well done for a first attempt. Keep at it. It appears you have a knack for leather work.
  8. It sounds like something is sticking. Are there any wear marks on things like the bobbin? (Possibly bent?)
  9. By any chance is there a certain distance or number of threads between the missed stitches?
  10. splitrail: if I am seeing it right, it appears that the needle went in but the bobbin thread was not locked in. I could be seeing shadows though lol.
  11. My eyes must be getting old, thanks JLS. Beautiful crafting as well! I am glad you're on this site to guide many like me.
  12. Just noticed none of the links work. Aret hey taken down or have they been moved to a new section? Thank you.
  13. Two more products I would suggest (scroll down a bit and there are videos that you can watch on each product). Fenice's Leather Care Kit and Dr Jackson's Leather Cleaning Eraser
  14. Well done chief, that's only a bout 45 minutes from my place. Thor are you a fellow Canuck?
  15. Noah, find a smooth bottomed weight to hold you piece still while you tool it. For practice, Tandy sells remnants in a bag that have LOTS of good pieces (even ones you can hand cut more key fobs with. The raising is actually from holding your swivel knife on an angle then tooling with the beveler which lifts the cuts. If you look into modling tools on the Tandy website you can manipulate the cased leather a little. And btw, yours turned out far better than mine. Keep up the good work.
  16. Fantastic site! I like the combination passport/ card holder.
  17. Time to bump this thread again! I am a Licensed Electrical Contractor in Ontario Canada. My first trade was Power plant engineering after a lay off at a local hospital and the death of my mother (almost 20 years ago) I decided to take up an electrical apprenticeship due to having nothing to talk about with my dad. He backed me in every facet of life so the least I could do was to learn what he did for a living to support the family- well 20 years later his pride is telling everyone about his kids- yes even me. He was the one to even plant the seed of leather working at a young age when we had horses and bought my the basic kit for leather working from Tandy. Years later and stressed out I decided to find a hobby and I'm back- thanks to relearning and rediscovering leather working, I have my sanity back and feel more relaxed than any vacation could ever provide. It's therapeutic to me, yet enjoyable by meeting so many people here. Now as I read the previous posts, what's everyone else's story???
  18. The Art of Making Leather Cases by Al Stohlman page 5 Example E Is what I believe you are looking for.
  19. You have better skills than I do, Welcome. to a fellow Canuck.
