The OTB ones aren't that better than Tandy. I wish there was better ones.

Bob, Is white label production part of your business model?

Don't confuse making a few bucks today with building a brand. Think of it this way. Selling your items without your mark is like working for a salary. Selling your work with your mark is like working for a salary plus stock options. Have enough ego to believe in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself, no one else will.

Ha! Cause John Bianchi is so short on ego. If you want to be a renowned holster maker put your mark on it. If you're okay just making a few bucks an toiling away in the shadows leave it off.

It's insulting and I hate when people ask me to leave my maker's mark off. I tell them I don't sell items I make without my mark.

If the right things are on sale I'm ready to buy.

Does anyone know of a book about their history? According to their wiki page they did harness and saddle mostly until the 1920s.

Thanks for the replies. It's a little over $100 for stop pliers and a jig. I think I'll just go ahead and order them.

All three of the books are great. You could wait for them to go on sale, which they do occasionally.

I'm about to start making zippers from zipper tape. Are the special tools (zipper jig, zipper end stop pliers) worth it, or should I just use regular pliers? What tools do you use? Thanks, Steve

Grab some edge kote and a hot press and try it out. You might not get what you're trying for,but who knows maybe you'll come up with something different that's just as cool.

I don't make gun leather, just wallets, bags etc. My policy for a home based leather business covers my machinery and inventory from theft, fire and terrorist attack plus gives me 1 million dollars of product liability for less than $1000 a year. If you need less coverage your premium would be less of course. My broker's email is chris.alexander@rlicorp.com. They only cover home based businesses. If you're working out of a retail or industrial space they won't cover you.
