  1. Heheh! Sorry, I was on the site yesterday doing admin stuff but didn't see your question until just now... I use either rubber cement or contact cement (which is what Barge's is). Kate
  2. Looks like that came together pretty well, James. That is a heckuva zipper! Thanks for posting it. Kate
  3. Hello James, Sorry for the slow reply - didn't see this until just now, and the lack of explanation about that. The tutorial mainly focused on making the interior of the wallet. Yes, that is the liner for the cover. It's slightly smaller, because it is attached to the cover on the inside while it is folded. The smaller turning radius for the lining at the spine of the cover results in a smaller piece required to cover the inside. Hope this makes sense... if not, fire one back and we'll figger it out. Kate
  4. Hey Tina, thanks for giving us more of your work to feast our eyes upon! Whoever gets these are going to the ren-fest in high fashion. Clever idea on the adjustment loops. Kate
  5. Welcome, Jim, glad to have you on board. Kate
  6. From Paul Burnettt: Click here to read the rest of his blog post about this publication. You can order the print version of the book now, and the download version will be available this coming Monday.

  8. The "chatter marks" you see are not from the knife lines, but the dotted lines in the transferred pattern. You'll notice in photos later in the sequence that the knife cuts are smooth and continuous, and the dotted lines have been buried in the tooling. As for what is causing them on your carving, one of the more common causes is choppy movement of the knife through the leather, especially when going around curves. If your knife is not sliding very smoothly through the leather - seems to "pop" a lot - it can be an issue of either a poorly sharpened/stropped knife blade, or the leather could be too wet. If you can post a photo of yours, we can probably get a better idea what's going on. Kate
  9. Nice work, Rob, on the box, the photo, and the wallet. You might be able to tip the subject a little more out of the glare with a little more adjustment. Kate
  10. Glad to know you're still with us, Tim! Kate
  11. Paul Burnett is back after a long hiatus with a new installment of his Wildlife Studies, a series of lessons on carving wildlife. This one is on carving a Timber Wolf, and contains information about techniques for creating very realistic-looking fur textures. To read more about this study and purchase it, visit Paul's web site: http://paintingcow.com/content/index.php/publications/books_and_pattern_packs/wildlife-studies-timber-wolf/
  12. From the album: Katherine Louise Leather Designs

  16. Hi murse, simple is nice, I like it. There are a few OTB resellers floating around here somewhere, maybe one or two of them will speak up. Kate
  17. I hear that. Looking forward to when I get to start living more than learning. Kate
  18. Here's the original post I made on this: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4923 Then later I found a better way to mount the clamp, using corner brackets. You can see how that looks here: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=6380 Kate
  19. Leather and motorbikes... was there ever a better match made in heaven? Kate
  20. Guess I didn't notice this the first time around, either. Pretty good stuff, most of which I already tell my customers. I know these are just suggestions, but here's one observation... Fortunately I have not had to deal with very many returns (except a couple from people who don't follow measuring instructions), but I've never required the original invoice for returns. I figure the retail businesses require the original sales slip or invoice so they can confirm the item actually came from them. I usually can tell if something being returned to me is my work or not, nowhutImean? And speaking of people who won't follow measuring instructions, I had to add this disclaimer to my product info: Kate
  21. Clever effect to give the wings that translucent look. Kate
  22. I am working on another Backgammon design, as well as developing numerous other designs for which I plan to sell the patterns. (And yes, I plan to sell the pattern for this design, too.) I've just set up a new Facebook "fan" page to post all the leather work I'm doing, and will be posting a lot of WIP there. Kate
