  1. @fredk This is what I do when I make a boo boo on a belt. Too good & ex$y to waste. On this occasion, correct initials, wrong leather . First you see it , and then you don't I make a piece to go over the top...and charge a little extra, of course. I have done this a few times in the past, they don't take long to sell either. HS
  2. Try doing that with a 4ltr tin of acetone, pouring into a smaller tin . Even with a funnel, the acetone just runs down the side of the tin and not into the funnel making a dangerous and ex$y mess all over my bench. I can't even find a pouring attachment for the tin at any hardware shop. @fredk in my case, it will be a scene from ' Bullet' Steve McQueen, when the petrol station blows up . HS
  3. I might share a little trick I use in the event I stuff up on a belt . I'll put it in the ' How Do I Do That ' thread. HS
  4. We'll all be showing our scars next , lol HS
  5. or misspelling when doing monograms etc. The air goes rather ' blue' . HS
  6. How heavy is the battery ? around 1 -1.5 kg? I'd be going with my gut and reinforce it. But yes, it will be heavy on your shoulder, you may even wish to make a shoulder pad of some sort . And, batteries having acid in them, I'd be putting plenty of sealer or waxes or both on the threads. HS
  7. off topic>> I did a simple task on my old tractor at the weekend.......in my fave nice- clean- white- T shirt. What was I thinking?? When I finished, there was a big black smudge on the front.....DOH !! took 2 days to clean it. My dying bench is well away from the other benches to avoid any' mistooks' ...and any potential cursing & swearing . HS
  8. You have quite a a good selection there Fresh herbs are the best in cooking . Dried herbs out of a jar, are OK, but don't seem to have the same flavour as fresh herbs. hs
  9. I do I have two pairs of the same boots, one pair for around the paddock etc. and the other I wear at markets . I polish them both . It helps keep them a little water proof and comfy , and neat and tidy for markets . Also, as a wee lad going to school, I polished my shoes every day. HS
  10. That looks so beautifully lush & green . I've never actually seen cumin before, except in powdered form in a jar , something I use in curries all the time. I use to put ' dill' on a simple cheese on toast, that was way back when I was in school . Come home from school , snack, as all kids do. . I think thats when my culinary interest began. Dill is a very aromatic herb . I used to mess around with damper, (a bush bread, made of flour, a pinch of salt, and water made into a bread like doh and normally cooked on an open fire . ) but I used cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate etc. made my own version, cooked in the oven. Damn good it was too . Weather has been a bit strange lately . Yesterday was nice, until the late afternoon . Then a storm hit. Today it was cold...again. Weird. HS
  11. Its been a while since I've seen one of those. Looks great
  12. Sorry @Dwight , I thought I was onto something Its the thought that counts . HS
  13. You should patent that . Might come in handy to repair scratches etc . A bit like body filler on a car, fill scratch , smooth out or sand, dye over the top. HS
  14. Not so much as an oops, but my indecisiveness. Starting a project, " do I make one of these? but I like the other ', but, these are cool" when I do finally choose, which carving pattern? , theres so many. Takes for ever to decide . By the time I've finally decided , its lunch time Yup !! on knife sheaths , or forgetting to sew on belt loops and realising after the case is assembled ...doh !! HS
  15. I think it was mentioned that he had some concussion as a result of falling, that too could be caused by the affects of ' syncope's' . Another beeeeeautiful day again . Its warming up friend, it was like a Summers day yesterday HS
  16. Welcome to the world of working with leather HS
  17. You really could have some fun with that . Looks like Genghis Khan , true . Geez Frodo, you have our imaginations running wild here . Could always channel some Star Trek ? Klingons perhaps? Make a Klingon character out of it ? In a Darth Vader voice : " I .....am your Ramen " lol HS
  18. @chuck123wapati Hello friend, wasn't sure whether to talk about this, or where to post it, but theres a certain individual that keeps freezing when doing press conferences. I'll keep that ' stuff' starting with ' P'' well out of the conversation . However, I have recognized the condition, similar to what my Dad has experienced in the past. Dad used to just 'freeze' , sometimes mid sentence, doing simple tasks like boiling a kettle, or when mid- stride when he stood up. Its scary sh**t ! They are called ' syncope's ' . Its either dehydration, medication/s, or perhaps a combination of both. But ever since the Dr's stopped the dementia medication, and simplified other meds, he's hardly had an episode since. One Dr even said, "some dementia medications are more trouble than they are worth" . While theres no cure for dementia, he hasn't got any worse after coming off his dementia medication. So just wondering if said 'person that freezes' has dementia ? HS
  19. A little bit of ' trivia' . Depending on the project, I have another bobbin rewinding while I am sewing . HS
  20. Welcome to the forum, from ' upside down land', Western Australia Celtic knots are one of my many faves. They can be challenging, but effective . Well done HS
  21. AKA ' CNN' Cheap 'N' Nasty HS
  22. Remember, leather stretches. If possible, moisten it, find a piece of wood around the same size thickness etc. as the notebook and put in in, perhaps with a little force, but not so much to damage the leather, and leave it over night . Thats worked for me in the past if I've made a sizing boo boo. As for craft foam molds, I just use the cardboard from my fave beer carton , its just the right ' stiffness' for patterns , templates HS
  23. Are you refering to the tippman boss machine? If thats the case, imagine doing a few belts, using one of those ? After a while your hand would seize up .Ouch !! Its bad enough cutting out a few hundred holes on a bag using a rotary punch. I'm glad I got my machine when I did, it came from Q Stitch in Capalaba Qld. All my needles, thread etc. also come from SMA Qld. HS
