  1. One of those stair lifts perhaps? Look after your back, once its 'gone'...its gone. Thankfully I had my Father help me lift the head on the table at the time. HS
  2. Great job, the new handles may outlast the bag I have done quite a few handle repairs, and theres good sense of satisfaction at the end knowing that you've extended the life of the bag. Well done HS
  3. In the words of Sergeant Schultz, " I see noOthing"
  4. @chuck123wapati Happy Birthday Chuck, , your thread turns 10...pages Here ya go friend, these are the locos I was talking about . About as close as I could get. They're just sitting there, pretty much abandoned . I managed to count 10 loco's . The yellow one in the foreground ' 2301' is a newcomer, it has only been there for a few months. They were in good working condition, almost new some of them , but I did find out that one or two may have been vandalised inside. Now that really p**ses me off !! Theres no need for that. The building in the background is our wheat bin for the local farmers to offload their grain, but even that has now been closed by the grain handling company. So now the farmers have to travel much further to offload their grain at another wheat bin in another town, at extra expense , go figure. So now as a result the roads to and from , are now in constant need of repair . Can't fix stoopid !! HS
  5. You did a great job on the basket weave as well .Basket weave can be quite challenging at times. HS
  6. It was also probed, and it was the only cow with a smile on its face...it also ' jumped over the moon ' . So thats where that came from HS
  7. ' O'h....fffffiddle sticks !!! ' he said . Yep, you're not alone friend If only that bench could speak , the stories it could tell . " ouch ouch ouch f***k it !! ... ouch ouch ....!!" HS
  8. My approach would be to rough up the area to be glued on the metal, you may have already done so, and remove any oil etc. with a solvent . This may also be a time where super glue may work. . Super glue will dry hard and stiff, but contact adhesive will be flexible. Is there such thing as a ' flexible super glue' ? Be good to hear from others on this . I almost forgot to mention, that when I make barrettes , I use around a 5mm -6 mm wood dowel a bit longer than the barrette itself, , slightly pointy at one end, and tapered at the other , and slightly smaller holes in the barrette for the dowel to pass through, not sure if that is of any help . HS
  9. It also would be good to preserve that paper, it would have a nice piece of history in the articles. HS
  10. Try contacting these people: https://campbell-randall.com/product/model-132-1 HS
  11. It looks like theres a screw missing as well on the plate. Just a wild guess, but looks like Pfaff. HS
  12. When I start spending more time looking for my tools than working on leather.... I know its time for a tidy up, o'h wait......wha...?? We've all done it at some point I'm sure . Just when I think I've nailed it, " just a little bit more " .....DOH !!! F***k it !!! lol Might install a basket ball hoop with a rubbish bin under it. HS
  13. We also have the ability to make fire from two pieces of wood, man has enjoyed that luxury for 100's of thousands of years Although I do carry a flame thrower in the boot of my car ....just in case, you never know when you have to make a cup of coffee . HS
  14. So many dying, sewing, molding & assembly techniques in one thread. Love the red on black, really stands out, but I would use a Q tip , ear bud to dye the insides of the holes, but thats just me. HS
  15. @Besthorsegear Yep, thats happened to me a few times on my belts that are on a belt spinner. You're at the mercy of the elements when selling at outdoor venues. And some idiot forgot to turn the sprinklers off at one venue...OOPS!! Anyway, I experimented with a little antique dye , and to try and match the original colour, that seemed to work . That looks like a ' whisky antique' . Hope this helps a bit. HS
  16. Now theres something you won't ever see here in Oz. That was impressive . The wagons over there have the same graffiti as ours , if only the " artists" knew how to spoll....er...spell. HS
  17. Whatever it was, the shine was gone. Took me a good hour or more clean them up to sell.
  18. Man, that thing is enormous !!!! When they blew the horn, I actually got goose bumps . What a sight to behold. The chap at the back ( last pic) , I can only guess whats going through his mind, he's living a childhood dream no doubt . Loved that HS
  19. If they are stored or if the item you made is stored in a damp or moist location, that could cause them to tarnish . Case in point: I made a about a dozen studded and riveted wrist bands for one client, NP, , all nice and shiny, ready to sell . I had them in a plastic bag, just sitting on the floor in my Mothers sewing room. I went to pick them up the next day.....and AAGGHH!!! The whole lot tarnished over night the cold air in Mums sewing room must have been just damp enough. HS
  20. Yep, I agree I have all my early 'stuff' and stuff ups in a shoe box, some of which took flight across my work shop HS
  21. And no wonder, sounds quite dangerous. I'll stick to using contact adhesive for leather, but thanks for the info . HS
  22. I can't say I've used super glue on leather, but it does go stiff & hard when dried. Not sure what that would do to sewing machine needles if you had to sew through it. Like sewing through hard plastic I guess, depending on how much you use. Also, one thing I noticed, I had to repair a bed side lamp recently using super glue. I used a cotton ear bud , and for some reason the glue reacted with whatever was in the ear bud.I could smell a strong vapour coming off it, and see a tiny whiff of smoke coming off the bud.... so weird. Not sure what is worse, vapours from contact adhesive, or super glue. HS
  23. It has function , I like it . You also re-purposed an old belt I had no idea what I was doing when I started. I was using boot polish to dye the leather . I had to use the yellow pages to find stuff. HS
  24. It looks like a DB 189. Also check this out: https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/94797-mitsubishi-sewing-machine-info/ HS
  25. O'h the joy Bet you can't wait to get it up and running. Hope you have someone to help you with the head, they are damn heavy . Its a silly thing, but give your new machine a name. I call mine ' Brutus ' , true Have fun HS
