Man, that thing is enormous !!!! When they blew the horn, I actually got goose bumps . What a sight to behold. The chap at the back ( last pic) , I can only guess whats going through his mind, he's living a childhood dream no doubt . Loved that HS -
If they are stored or if the item you made is stored in a damp or moist location, that could cause them to tarnish . Case in point: I made a about a dozen studded and riveted wrist bands for one client, NP, , all nice and shiny, ready to sell . I had them in a plastic bag, just sitting on the floor in my Mothers sewing room. I went to pick them up the next day.....and AAGGHH!!! The whole lot tarnished over night the cold air in Mums sewing room must have been just damp enough. HS

Yep, I agree I have all my early 'stuff' and stuff ups in a shoe box, some of which took flight across my work shop HS -
And no wonder, sounds quite dangerous. I'll stick to using contact adhesive for leather, but thanks for the info . HS

I can't say I've used super glue on leather, but it does go stiff & hard when dried. Not sure what that would do to sewing machine needles if you had to sew through it. Like sewing through hard plastic I guess, depending on how much you use. Also, one thing I noticed, I had to repair a bed side lamp recently using super glue. I used a cotton ear bud , and for some reason the glue reacted with whatever was in the ear bud.I could smell a strong vapour coming off it, and see a tiny whiff of smoke coming off the bud.... so weird. Not sure what is worse, vapours from contact adhesive, or super glue. HS

It has function , I like it . You also re-purposed an old belt I had no idea what I was doing when I started. I was using boot polish to dye the leather . I had to use the yellow pages to find stuff. HS -
It looks like a DB 189. Also check this out: https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/94797-mitsubishi-sewing-machine-info/ HS

So the nest is somewhere near you or your house ? Great pics. Watching nature is more entertaining than TV If you're on the market for a loco , theres plenty , at Donkey Creek in Wyoming , somewhere east of Gillette. Just watched a vid on yootoob ' Hundreds of Loco's at Donkey Creek' . Quite impressive , and kinda sad at the same time , as some of them may be retired, and even scrapped. Theres around 7 locos at our local wheat bin , just sitting there, abandoned. They were fully operational in really good condition. The rail & grain company bought them to use, but are now deemed under powered , apparently, and some don't meet current ' environmental standards' , wtf? I just hate seeing good quality iron go to waste, just millions of $$$ just sitting there. They could be used for training purposes, mechanical training, tourism..put them to use, anything but go to waste. HS -
Thank you for that info Theres no reason for our local bottle shops not to stock it that I can see, as its still readily available . Perhaps they just choose not to sell it, they used to though. HS

Yep, same here. Looks like Frodo's bench has seen a lot of work If only that bench could speak. HS

What brand is this old strap cutter?
Handstitched replied to Leather Rush's topic in Leather History
@Leather Rush I have looked around, but no luck. I have tried different leather related cutting machine search parameters etc. including the model number , still no luck . Other types come up, but not yours. HS -
Thats an awesome pic . " Hello ...?? Mic Dundee?? " They would make a great snake skin leather vest...or 20!! Did they eat them too I wonder ? Tastes like chicken no doubt. They could only do that once. " Here I am inside the stomach of a f***ing huge snake......say hi to the kids for me ....LOL" Is there a category in the 'Darwin Awards' for total f....k knuckles that do dumb sh*t like that ?? HS

what do people use to block RFID in Wallets?
Handstitched replied to ToddW's topic in How Do I Do That?
Might give that a go HS -
I had an old 63 Valiant that was a bit of a sleeper , a 3sp column shift, 225 slant 6 . A little fart a**se 4cyl buzz box early Ford Laser thought he try it on , on a major hwy to the Wheatbelt , he shouldn't have bothered...I was gone . I needed to blow the cobwebs off the 225 anyway, as one of the plugs was miss firing, not after that it wasn't . Not much of a challenge, but still fun. Miss that Valiant HS

I'm just surprised my brakes worked as well as they did, thank God !! I had a crop sprayer plane next to me coming back home once. I was on what is known as the ' top road' in my part of town. A beautiful scenic route, popular with the 'out-of towners' and tooo-wrists ( and no cops) . Just driving along in my ol' Landy, and out of the blue, the plane was pretty much beside me to my right. Once again , I waved to the pilot and he waved to me. So for the next kilometre or so , we were beside each other, I thought it was pretty cool . My old Landy is a ex-military 68 LWB btw, , maybe thats why . I do miss driving my ol Landy. Its now sitting in my paddock looking quite sad. You don't need gym's , just drive an old Landy , you get plenty of exercise. HS

what do people use to block RFID in Wallets?
Handstitched replied to ToddW's topic in How Do I Do That?
For my own personal credit card, I went to the bank and got the ' pay wave' component deactivated . The EFTPOS machines kept picking up my credit card while it was still in my wallet and no-where near the machine, it was in my left hand and I do transactions with my right, either with cash or a savings card, go figure. I didn't realise how sensitive those machines are. But I really should think about using RFID shielding when I make wallets. HS -
Very true, worked with toluene in the fibreglass industry for many years, and it was also once used in the process of printing newspapers , was part for that too once. It can burn on contact with the skin. And for those with sensitive skin, wear gloves & eye protection . HS
-
No. I know brands are different , but I use toluene in my contact adhesive to thin it out . Don't need much, approx a table spoon if the (500ml) tin is still a bit full, or half full. Or a few tea spoons to soften up the bits at the bottom . I usually leave it over night for best results. HS

This is not a joke, but some funny s**t that happened in my part of the universe . Some many moons ago, coming back from my bank in another town 35 mins away, theres a freight train parallel to the road to my right , a gazilion miles long , he must have been empty given the direction and speed.. Freight trains carrying grain are a common sight here in the bush. I was in my ye' olde' 68 series 2A Landy LWB. To give you and idea how close the road is to the track, I waved to the driver and he waved to me, but then , trying to beat him and the crossing ahead of me I put my foot down....and he did the same . WTF ??? The cheeky bugger !!!!!! It was on !!!! I could hear the revs go up on his loco's ...so I put my foot down further...and he did the same.... up goes the revs again, WTF ?? .. ..and remember, I'm in my Landy, , not exactly a 'hot rod'. So for the next few minutes we're going ' hammer and tongs' side by side, I could see the crossing ahead .. racing racing racing... what a rush ... but......f***k it !!! ...too late!! He beat me ...."hoooooonk" went his horn and a few ( kind) waves were exchanged as I waited patiently for him to pass He was no doubt going beyond his regulations, but thats the only time I have had a drag race with a freight train, it was so much fun, but its kinda embarrassing that a freight train is faster than my ol Landy HS

@LePrevo Forgive the off-topic-ness of this question, but is Newcastle Brown Ale still available? ( I saw your location) Its no longer available here in Oz, to my knowledge, and to my annoyance, it was my fave drop. I know it got bought out by Heineken , but after that it suddenly stopped, like they just stopped producing it ....grrr!! It used to be my special annual treat at Christmas to buy a case of NB . Even Bass ale is longer around. That was my 2nd fave, ...and so was Bovril , but thats another story . HS

Sounds a bit like my area. I can see the tower from my place a few k's down the road, however, one puff of wind, or a heavy downpour , and it goes off . All we get on our mobile phones when it goes off is, " Emergency calls only". But....that too goes off . Not good for our local emergency services. They do have a back up ....land lines. teknologee sucks !!!! -

I like that and I like your thinking. Water & electronics just simply don't mix no matter how well they are sealed, especially if those electronics are needed to save your life . Not sure if I can make any suggestions to help Klara . So what do mountaineers and ' boaties ' use to keep their life saving electronics dry & safe ? HS -
' no more buwetts ' . Well done on that.
